Postherpetic Neuralgia/Crohn's Disease/George Tabb

Not sure if this has ever been posted on here before (I did a search, but did not come across anything).

This guy George Tabb, who I knew only through his hilarious and thought-provoking columns in old Maximum RocknRoll magazines, has been diagnosed with Postherpetic Neuralgia. He was previously diagnosed with Crohn's Disease as well. Apparently he lived across the street from the World Trade Center on 9/11, and when the buildings collapsed, the dust and debris was sucked up into the ventilation system in his apartment building. Consequently, he was breathing in this toxic crap for months after the disaster. He, and others, believe that his illness was brought on by this. He's written about it, been on CNN discussing it...etc.

The poor guy is in pretty bad shape and could use some help. There are two reasons I am posting about him on the TC board. One being, Mike McCready also has Crohn's, and I have seen other posts on here by some concerned fans (I think the Wishlist Foundation is involved w this, not sure)? Two, Joey Ramone was a good friend of his. And we all know a lot of Pearl Jam fans are also Ramones fans, like Ed and the band. He sat in with the Ramones a few times, and also had his own bands, including Furious George (a super fun punk outfit I listened to back in the day).

Anyway, just wanted to put his name up here with some info, in case any of you wanted to read up on his situation. We emailed back and forth (before 9/11 and his sickness) and he really is a great dude. AND, he loves dogs, which in my book makes him a-ok.

It's a very unfortunate situation this man is in. Just like Mike, I have Crohn's disease also. During some of my lowest lows I've experienced during my disease Mike has been an inspiration to me.

I can't even imagine what it must be like for you, him or George. Thanks for reading.
