Update the morning after
Wow.I may provide my update in a couple of postings but here is what I can say now. Wow. When the lady at the ticket window gave them to me, she said "you got good seats" and she smiled as she shoved them towards me. I thought there had to be some mistake but sure enough - front row between Ed and Stone. I have been a member of this religion for so long.. i absolutely melted.
I decided I needed a sign but what would it say??... I chose "Thank you so much!". The venue employee that put on the front row wrist bands allowed me to use his sharpie so I could make my sign after BOH played. I was holding the sign on the rail and Ed spotted it during Oceans. He gave me the head nod/raised eyebrow to acknowledge the thanks. After Oceans, he came to the edge of the stage and bent down to give me a pick. I couldn't get it so he tossed it-bounced off my head and onto the floor. I got it - it was the EV EK pick he used during Oceans. That was priceless. I continued to hold my sign and, by the end of show, I had received acknowledgement from each band member. They seemed to really appreciate the gratitude. Stone and I had some exchanges while he was trying to read the sign which was quite funny. I truly enjoyed every moment.
I have always wanted to say thank you but didn't know how to tell them where I would know that they got the message. Well, they got it last night. After having a stroke in January, I made my bucketlist.. that list only consisted of meeting the band so I could let them know how much their music means to me. I got that opportunity last night and it felt absolutely fabulous to communicate my appreciation to them.
It was an incredible evening that words cannot describe adequately. I woke up smiling... and every once in a while I chuckle out loud and my friends look at me.. they know I'm reliving a moment from the show. The one thing I can say that was unique in my experience in front row is that I could "feel" the emotional intensity the band had so much more than I've ever experienced. I was in tears multiple times during the evening as my emotions were out of control. Just couldn't believe I was there.
Wow. Everyone should get an opportunity to experience that... thank you to all of the well wishes posted after the ticket picture finally got posted. I'm at Mo's now waiting for Indy to start. Looking for confirmation that I'm still Alive
I have been to 7 PJ shows over the past 4 years (6 in the last 10 months, 3 in the last week) all with DreamofAngels. She is the person who introduced me to PJ one night on a long drive to Illinois where I drove and she was in charge of the music, throughout that night all she played was PJ (except for about 30 minutes of Metallica) by the end of the drive I was hooked. Over these past 4 years our friendship has had its ups and downs but the one constant has been PJ and our love for the lyrics, the music and the band. Regardless of all the other shit that maybe going on around us at the time, PJ is our foundation. I know I am a much better person with PJ in my life and this would not be the case without DreamofAngels.
On Tuesday the two of us were in St. Louis, we were 14th row, middle of the floor and just had an amazing time, everything about that night was great, one of the best shows we have seen together. The 4 hour drive home that night sucked, but just as I was really starting to fight being sleepy, DreamofAngels woke up and we started talking about the night, reliving the setlist and everything we experienced the last hour of the drive just flew by.
On Thursday, besides the two of us, DreamofAngels boyfriend, and her mom joined us and of course during the drive to Columbus the topic of the lottery came up and how we all hoped one of us would win. When DreamofAngels picked up her tickets and the realization that she had front row center sunk in I knew how much this would mean to her and the emotion on her face confirmed everything I was feeling for her. If there is one person in my life who deserved something like this it was her, she has been through a helluva lot in the past 4 years, and the past few months have been incredibly hard, but she is a fighter and most definitely a survivor. From our seats (about 20 rows back on floor) DreamsofAngels mom and I just knew what she was feeling as each song started and I think PJ knew too, Ed gave her his pick from the opener Oceans and the rest of the night was just magical, the setlist couldn't have been any better and made for just an amazing night. To see DreamofAngels face and that of her boyfriend after the show confirmed everything I have ever felt about PJ, they really do hit a cord in so many people's lives and that night just cemented all those feelings. I know that is an experience that DreamofAngels will savor for the rest of her life. So I personally want to thank 10C and PJ for making this possible for her, what an amazing gift!!!
Yesterday, DreamofAngels, her mom, my 14 year old son and I went to Noblesville. It was my son's first PJ concert and he was so excited. DreamofAngels and her mom as always were wonderful to be with and they made my son's experience that much better. The concert was amazing, my son rocked out all night long and he is now a true PJ convert. As many have mentioned the parking sucks there, but as we sat in the car in the 4 of us just relived the night, and laughed it was another great night, one that I know my son will not forget.
Sorry for the long post, but I just had to share my experiences over the past week and how much my friendship with DreamofAngels means to me. Our friendship revolves around PJ and I can't think of any better way to enjoy a friendship. It has been a great 4 years and I look forward to many more. Thanks DreamofAngels, thanks to your mom and of course to PJ

My top PJ opener is Release, 3/4 shows!
Apparently Ed gave me the pick after Corduroy... so a friend has corrected me
I've been watching for a YouTube video of Corduroy in Columbus to see if the "moment" was a mere second or two or if it really lasted as long as the slow motion version that replays in my head. Does anyone have a video of this?
Wow, I'm so jealous. I've been lucky enough to see Eddie solo from 2nd row center and on Friday night I got 9th row center seats which were just fantastic, so I know a little of that feeling.

I've had enough, said enough, felt enough. I'm fine, still in it.
Congratulations that is awesome!! One thing I love about going to PJ shows is being near the box office and watching folks pick up tix and freak out when they see how close they are to the stage
The funny thing about this is that I didn't freak out (out loud) at the window or in the area by the line.. It was almost like I was melting inside and no one else was allowed to know. I was in a state of shock and disbelief. I was standing there with tickets in hand staring at a seating chart on the wall about 4 feet from the line and saying (really low voice) "oh my f*in g*d.... I just f*in won the lottery"... and on and on.. My mom was with me and then I had to apologize to her for my language. Some things were never meant to be said within mom's hearing range no matter how old you are. I don't know if the people in line figured it out or not watching me. Maybe my lower jaw dragging on the ground gave it away or the drooling.
As "iamalive" mentioned earlier, I whispered to his wife that I won the lottery. There was something about the internal melting that was keeping me underground with this information. Go figure. Tell you what, if I win again, I promise to jump and scream in the line so all the people can be happy with me

Congrats, what a great story! I'm still in shock that I won front row for LA 4 (right in front of mike!)
wish I had thought of making a sign, something heartfelt like the one you did.
Congrats... I've been there too and had the chance to experience all that you did and I felt equally overwhelmed and appreciative to them for letting me feel like I was part of the show. Greatest band ever. Congrats.

Asterisks are used to protect the innocent. So I guess it worked
I haven't found a Corduroy video from Columbus yet... Someone has to have it.
