    DMB is a great group of musicians...not MY cup of tea...but I wont slag their fans.....Id rather be at a show of DMB than Jack Johnson's......its hard to hear any music with all those teenaged girls SCREAMING at the top of their lungs!

    based on the couple DMB shows ive been to id say its not too far from the truth that they have more frat boys... and if he was a half decent musician he would quit taking advantage of his fanbase and write some new decent material... not saying he doesnt have a few good songs from years back... but its been like a decade since anything good...

    Ok. Gloves are off now. ;) I really think there are just as many "frat boys" at Pearl Jam shows. Pearl Jam has more male fans than female. Can we agree on that? I think DMB's fanbase is about 50/50 male/female. If anything there are more female fans. DMB is not a rock band. They have a lot of songs that, let's face it, appeal to women.

    New decent material? Funny. A lot of people/critics whatever say the SAME fuckin' thing about Pearl Jam.

    as for the frat boy bs.....i've been to 14 or 15 dmb shows and it never fails....a bunch of guys from the same frat wearing the same t-shirts with the names of the members of the band on the back.....saddest fucking thing ever...

    And I have to totally disagree on these frat boy remarks. I have been to over 50 DMB shows and the last 3 years or so, with my DMB warehouse tickets I am always surrounded by a bunch of inmature underage kids, boys and girls, that think a DMB show is only good for the pot and drinkin and it drives me nuts. Early DMB shows, 95 or 96, ya i will agree maybe more frat boys...but at the end of the day you cant deny DMB's talent and the fact, they bust their asses touring, just like PJ.

    A) yes i will agree he has more females... i guess i shouldve said more people in the greek system in general... its only the bros that bug me tho

    B) they do say that about PJ but in that case theyre fuckin wrong... ive listened to both and i know american baby sucked balls... and most of his other albums are wildly inconsistent as far as some songs being good and other being just terrible

    Thank you. At the end of the day it's just about respect. You don't have to like every band. But just b/c you don't like a band doesn't mean they suck. Both PJ and DMB have a following of devoted fans that travel around the country to see them.

    you do realize that these are the exact some wannabe hipster losers that join frats and sororities... just cause they arent wearing their letters to the show doesnt mean its not a major infestation at all DMB concerts... plus most of them probably dont get warehouse seats near you cause theyre too young to know how a fanclub works or all their money is tied up in paying their dues and bar tabs

    Wow, that is pathetic.

    I know Dave is a very skilled musician (as well as his band...no denying this) but their music is incredibly generic and forgetable to me (my opinion). I guess it's no accident or coincidence that fraternities and sororities (groups that stress conformity etc.) would love his stuff. You sure don't see frat boys/girls flocking to Explosions in the Sky or Destroyer shows.

    Well, I'm a fan of both bands (obviously) and I've never been in a fraternity. Not sure what's wrong about being in a frat but whatever.

    They're wrong b/c you like Pearl Jam. You will defend them to the end b/c YOU ARE a fan of the band. I'm not saying I like one band over the other. I like them both for different reasons. The majority of DMB's fans have been out of school for many years so the number of 'frat boys' at shows in declining.

    American Baby I didn't care too much for. Does that mean that the band sucks? Not necessarily. But that's the thing about being a fan of a band. You're not going to abandon them just b/c they put out some albums with some songs you don't really care for. Their shows are where it's at. They play songs that I want to hear and they vary their setlists like another band we're both fans of.

    agreed... i meant no offense to the band personally... its already been said that they are all pretty talented guys individually... i had fun at both the shows i went to... their jams can be pretty tight sometimes tho often bordering on generic and too drawn out...

    my problem with frats is that im in college right now and go to a school with the largest greek system anywhere... so i deal with them everyday... the first question im asked sometimes when i meet someone is "what frat are you in?"... ive met a handful of nice bros but the fact of the matter is that when they roam in packs they become assholes... when it comes to music they can seldomly explain to me why they like certain TERRIBLE bands (not talking DMB in particular) which leads me to believe its only because its hip or something...

    all that being said... i will continue to give future DMB works a fair listen and maybe even consider seeing him live again if he releases something new and worth while...

    lets all agree that OAR is a bigger problem and a far shittier band :D

    sorry i wasn't really clear.....the frat boy element isn't as bad as is made out.....the t-shirt thing has just always stuck out in my mind....and don't get me started on the drunks...ugh!......really i don't give a shit who is at the show or who any bands fans are....i go to shows for music...:)

    I saw a thread (that was deleted from here pretty fast) Tuesday afternoon talking about Ed's Monday show. And I was a little unhappy about missing it. Then I got a cryptic PM from another poster here, Robbie, who's uncle's next door neighbor's best friend's butcher knows this guy that has a friend who got word from someone of pretty good authority that there might be another show at some place called Kenyon Hall in west Seattle. That was all the convincing it took to get me to drive up to west Seattle from Tacoma with Robbie to see what we could find out...and the rest is history! :D
