And I have to totally disagree on these frat boy remarks. I have been to over 50 DMB shows and the last 3 years or so, with my DMB warehouse tickets I am always surrounded by a bunch of inmature underage kids, boys and girls, that think a DMB show is only good for the pot and drinkin and it drives me nuts. Early DMB shows, 95 or 96, ya i will agree maybe more frat boys...but at the end of the day you cant deny DMB's talent and the fact, they bust their asses touring, just like PJ.
I could do without the screaming or talking hussies during the shows but you are spot on when you say they bust their asses. They have toured every year since inception. And they kick ass, just like PJ, just in a different way, I have been to 25 shows and would go to 25 more if I could! Great music!

I can respect Dave as a muscian, but his fans are complete DOUCHEBAGS!!! Most of them are fratboy morons, and they "think" they're listening to "really deep" music and they don't understand it in the slightest. It's like saying Gladiator is your favorite movie because it's deep and inspirational! *rolls eyes* To steal a quote from a girl I once dated, "Liking DMB borders on having questionable character".
I also have very little patience for Jam Bands. Do something productive on stage! Sing something and have structure! I regard most jam band music as audio masterbation. Do that shit on your own time in private!! Don't make the rest of us listen to you get off!!!! Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against a McCready Even Flow solo, but at least it's purposeful. In contrast I do LOVE instrumental bands like Sigor Ros, Explosions in the Sky, and the NIN and Beastie Boys stuff, because that music has a real PURPOSE.
I won't change direction, and I won't change my mind - E.V.

Like it or not there are many similarities between PJ fans and DMB fans and most people who like DMB also like PJ... it's just much easier for me to deal w/ the jerks at PJ concerts because I like their music a lot more... and I'm sure hardcore DMB fans with similar views can say the same thing.
DMB appeals to "frat boys" or the frat boy type because he occasionally sings about drinking and smoking weed and being high... A song could have the deepest meaning in the world and as soon as Dave sings about getting high or drinking something all the meat heads go ape shit. In fact in high school I was always turned off by DMB because this small group of annoying frat/stoner type kids touted DMB.
I also really loath when people constantly referred to the band as "Dave" and not "Dave Matthews Band"... "FUCK YEAH we're gonna see Dave!!! DAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" And that's what's most annoying to me, the fact that people call him by his first name constantly in conversation... Saying "I saw Dave last night" means nothing to the average person. Dave who?
That being said, I do like DMB, they're amazing live, but def not my favorite, not even in a top 10 or 25 list of mine (if I had one), I'd say I'm a casual fan... They are very talented and work great together on stage... Carter, the drummer, is one of the best drummers in any current band around... I like their entire discography and if someone told me I was guaranteed to see Halloween played live at every show I attended I would probably go to every show I could (I've seen them 2 times).

What a stellar idea!
Maybe that would rid of some of the guests around ticket time if PJ did that! :P
