Just been blasting some 2000 from their crispy CDs and Matt just sounds so fine on the European leg. Bring back that Ayotte kit and Ayotte Keplinger snare!!!

...I assume it's because of his endorsement / sponsorship with Yamaha.

Yeah, but have you listened to any of those SG bootlegs?!?!

SG Matt and PJ Matt are two different people. If he was using the Yamaha kit, it sounded incredible during those SG shows!

His drum work in SG is 1000x better than what he does in PJ. Much looser, much more freedom, much more groove...

Too bad he has to be so rigid with PJ.

The bootlegs have gone down hill since 00. The band got it right it in 00 and I'll never get why they changed it.

I completely agree, since 2000 the boots have been garbage. I'm glad they are there, but garbage nonetheless. It's almost like the crowd doesn't exist until the band stops playing and then you hear almost like a fake crowd applause like in old TV shows.

I was actually referring to the 2010 SG shows/boots.
He's using what appears to be the Yamaha kit, and it sounds great...and his playing style is soooo much different than what he plays with PJ...
  • Wishful thinking, but maybe Jack will come back!

Here is a link form youtube of Ed, Jack and Flea playing Corduroy:

Ed looks like he's having a blast with his old friend behind the kit...

Well in my opinion the 2003 boots are the best...but yes after 00' and 03', the boots don't even come close to the same quality. I rarely listen to live shows post 2003.

Have you ever tried making a mix with songs from 2000 and 2003 and then sprinkle some versions from years after? It cannot be done without instantly skipping the newer versions.

It's too bad, really...I wonder if it was more expensive in the past? You wouldn't think so. Obviously making pressed CD's with the art and tracklist on the actual CD is more expensive, but why couldn't we get that same quality as in the past just now do it by downloading the FLAC's?

Do we know who was responsible for the 2000 and 2003 boots?

I've tried doing pre-95 and post-95, and there's a gigantic difference, but it's the band as opposed to the recordings. I hope they release some soundboards from those shows. ...that's when I'll cough up serious money.
