Love it. Saw them in November and they tore it up. It sounds like there's definitely another album in the works.

Homme is such a talented musician. From his stuff in Kyuss, Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal and now Them Crooked Vultures he doesn't get the respect he deserves. Along with his recent role as a producer, he is no doubt one of the most talented guys on the rock scene now.

I hope he gets back in the studio with Queens of the Stone Age. It's been three years since Era Vulgaris!!!

I love this alternate version of 'Go with the Flow' from 08.

Very true. I saw them live before the album came out. While I still liked the record, it did not come close to the live versions of those songs.

    For real!!!

I saw them for the first time last night at the Aragon (in Chicago, where they are quite proud to say it all began).

Fuck me running, what a show!!

was at their first show last year at the metro and was blown away. That version of scumbag blues posted is the reason why they're so good. The album is alright but these guys are all virtuosos and sound best live. Can't wait to hear the follow up that's rumored to be coming out in the fall or late summer.

I was into the album at first; I liked the raw vibe of it.

Now I find myself bored with it

He's the weak point in the band. Luckily it's a pretty high bar to meet.

i just think itd be nice if josh and dave switched off on singing duties ocassionally... itd make the songs blend into eachother less... and god knows theyre both talented singers/guitarists/drummers

that being said you really have to go see these guys live if you havent... they put on a helluva show! lots of jammin... JPJ is REALLY on! and alain's a great addition

I've tried to dig QOTSA a bunch, I just don't think they have much to offer me. I dig 3&7s, Noone Knows, Mosquito Song, Feel Good Hit, and maybe a couple others.

Do you have their first and currently out of print album? It's supposed to be released eventually with extra tracks. It's a really good starting point in the kyuss to queens evolution.
Here's a live version of mexicola, which is off their debut album.

John Paul Jones is disgustingly good. He makes me want to quit.

he was hilarious live... he was doing all these lil bass licks going into the jam on "elephants" and getting a kick out of how little he could do while still getting huge applause... he just looked at dave and shrugged

must be hard being a living legend :D

and that fuckin 12 string bass with the LED fret inlays?!? must be heavy as FUCK

Yeah.. He looked right at me while playing a solo. Was amazing...

The 12 string was sick, as was that weird slide guitar thing.

I had the album since December. Never listened to is more than twice in a row.

I liked it, but nothing about it really grabbed me.

After seeing them live, I feel like I get it now. There's so much going on in many of the songs, and now I can perceive it.

    Funny how that works :D

To each his own. I'm very curious about the Desert Sessions. Going to have to check those out for sure.

i agree... kindof feel the same about the debut... itd be nice if their next album can be enjoyed indepedent of the live show though

they definitely need to do something to make each song a little different... i get that josh's range isnt incredible, but QOTSA dont always sound the same
    ADD LANEGAN!

or just let dave and alain sing
