I've noticed
Being busy with practical matters can really silence our spirits sometimes
the energy it takes to be ambitious can get in the way of our inner voices
we have to get it done, don't be late, try harder dammit!!!
feeling the push-push of a stuffed day can cram our soul into a corner!
like a lost sock, it can end up lost in the dark
if that goes on too long, it may be mysteriously hard to find when we need it
that's why it's better when busy periods come in spurts
followed by open space and time to recover
to feel busy, busy, busy, all the time, with no space to feel ourselves can lead to ulcers
and a dead inside
my mom got ulcers when she was a business woman
her life re-started when she retired early
that's when she began to paint
I think that's why it's such a gift to all of us to be around people who
habitually own their own souls and keep them large
(not crammed in a corner!!)
it helps everyone to see a spirit big and expressive
and to hear their genuine feelings
and to look at the art from their mind's eye
it helps and
I feel it makes everyone remember to look for their own lost sock

I constantly tell my children that it's good to have moments of 'boredom' as it's within those moments, as a child, that I discovered my creative side bellowing out from an imagination I may not have given time to embrace, had it not been for 'being bored'. I do fear tho' that children nowadays are so saturated in entertainment that they might never have time to find theirs...
Great write!
We lose sight of whats important all too often.
Thank you for the reminder that life is too short and far too precious.
I may just quit my job tomorrow...
i've little soul left and miss it horribly
and why is that???
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
Everything is opened 24/7 and my kids know it. They think if something is needed at 10pm on a Sunday night, we can just run up to Target and get it. Of course, the answer is -NO- and they have learned not to even ask.
Unfortunetly, everthing revolves around money, you need it in order to survive. I guess finding a balance is the right way to go about it. My daughter is already taking "advanced" math and language arts classes in school. They push these kids hard - all about college, scholerships and getting careers. Way too much for me.
I need my quiet time, could'nt survive without it. And I make sure my kids have their quiet time, just to relax.
Take care everyone
while i like my job, as much as one can like their job i suppose.
the constant busy life has pretty much killed the creative fire. I used to sit and write non-stop, and there would be some good stuff there.
I still write, not as much, but it's 1 out of 100 songs or poems that i think even have a chance of being good.
it's not just the job, it's life period. modern day life gets in the way of living.
"To question your government is not unpatriotic --
to not question your government is unpatriotic."
-- Sen. Chuck Hagel
because our need to work ourselves to death just to survive is fucking soul crushing !
"To question your government is not unpatriotic --
to not question your government is unpatriotic."

And wolf, so true as well, life gets in the way of living
If I knew where it was I would take you there.
