Just curious what people think...I know noone knows for sure..But seeing as how I'll be hopping on a plane in a few hours and flying from NY to N.O. for Saturdays concert...just curious if they'll "reward" us crazies who are traveling far or just gonna give the diversified crowd a taste of all the songs most have heard...either way its PJ and its worth every penny..Im kind of prepping myself for the radio songs..any gut feelings out there?
I'll keep taking punches until their will grows tired..

i'd guess it will be like most concerts....a mix of old, new, radio popular and some less radio friendly songs. i'd bet you get at least 5 backspacer songs tho. i also would bet you get a cover or two that is jazzy.
81 is now off the air

They will play a 48 minute version of Evenflow, then Yellow Ledbetter.

The band will be confused why the audience didn't leave after Yellow Ledbetter... but then they remember this isn't a normal crowd for them.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

  • Greatest hits-style festival setlist. Esp. since it's being broadcast overseas to troops in Iraq. Don't expect very many deep cuts... But good idea. Lower your expectations, and when they DESTROY, it'll be that much more satisfying.

Your typical festival setlist I'm guessing. I wouldn't be prepared to be blown away by it, but who knows. Also, doesn't jazz fest end early...daytime PJ is something I want to see, would be a whole different scene I bet.

    not Bonnaroo

I think it will be some where in between ACL and Roo. Some greatest hits - but also a few rare ones in there.

I heard that they are gonna do a strictly gangster rap show.. Lil' Wayne is gonna be on stage the whole time as they cover songs by Nwa, 2pac, Biggie and Jay-z.. Fuck the police will be the closer.. Gonna be dope as hell

I'd say it might lean much more towards the hits - they're playing a festival in a city they haven't played in over half a decade. Most of the people here won't have seen them in a while - the band hasn't really even played within driving distance in years, and the vast majority of the people I've met here won't drive more than 3 hours for anything other than an LSU football game. They haven't heard Severed Hand live 50 times (or Even Flow live 15 times for that matter), so if I had to guess the overwhelming majority of the crowd will be there for the hits. I know a ton of people heading down there who have been fans since Ten and will be seeing them live for the first time - of my friends I'm the only person who's seen them in concert before, and most of my friends are big rock music fans (we're a happy liberal minority in Louisiana haha).

How that affects the setlist is anybody's guess, but my gut feeling is that most of the songs will be the more well-known ones, with a few Backspacer ones thrown in to promote the album, and a few rarities thrown in because that's how they roll. I could well be completely wrong - but if the 20 people I know who are going is any indication (how's THAT for a wildly unscientific sample size?), they're going because they want to hear Even Flow and Alive and not because they want to hear Of the Girl or Low Light.
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

So they're going to be broadcasting to Rikers Island too? That's where Lil Wayne is for the next few months...

probably. i suspect it will be a little more chilled out than ACL's pure rock fury show.
