I'm looking to buy a new camera before the shows hit in a couple weeks.. Any recommendations? Looking for something that:
- is small/compact/can fit in a pocket
- has a good zoom
- does well in low light as the flash will almost certainly not reach the stage
- is not real expensive

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Anything in the Panasonic Lumix range - you wont regret it.

Panasonic Lumix (yeah, what he said) -- for point-n-shoot variety, the Lumix series has the lowest Aperture/F-STop rating (seeing 2.8 on one unit, thought I'd seen down to 1.8), aperture is the measure of the size of the hole/aperture in the lens to let light through -- for low-light photography, you want as big a hole as possible so light can burst in and you don't have to leave the shutter open long (which can cause motion blur).

Low F-stop lens are called "fast glass" in the pro world....

Well, most of the best low-light photos and vids I've seen have been shot on a Lumix.

LUMIX is excellent... have the old one (No HD and no zoom during video and no regrets) I bet the new model should be aweeeeeeesome; I am saving money for that one and for the next leg of the tour ;)

enjoy the show and take good shots!!!

Canon PowerShot S90. The Lumix series would be my second recommendation. The S90 has a ring around the lens with a variable feature, which can include ISO, aperture, exposure compensation, shutter speed, and also features a wheel on the screen side to control another feature.. the user interface is seamless, and the camera produces excellent shots. The Lumix is almost as good, however lacks in the UI department in my opinion. The sensor size of the S90 is also excellent - I believe larger than that of the Lumix, but don't quote me on that one. In any case, to produce a great concert shot, where lighting conditions will ALWAYS be less than ideal, you need to experiment in manual modes - I tend to use the S90's manual mode, with the variable function rings set to shutter speed and aperture, and ISO between 400-800 (depending on the light). My dad owns some camera stores in Canada, so I've been exposed to quite a few options, and prefer the S90, or if concert photography is allowed, its big brother, the G11, which has a 5x zoom as opposed to the S90's 3.8x zoom, and an interface I love, although you only have one variable function ring.

I have the SD1200, and I love it. You really can't go wrong with Canon. I can't believe how (relatively) cheap cameras are now.
