Today I bought a couple of Hawkwind albums Doremi Fasol Latido and Hall Of The Mountain Grill, didn't know anything about Hawkwind other than the song Silver Machine and that Lemmy from Motorhead was in the band for a few years in the early 70s. They are incredible. Can't believe I hadn't heard any of this stuff earlier. Trippy, psychedelic, hard rock at it's best. Anyone else into these guys?

Yeah I dig them. I have Master's of The Universe which has Lemmy on it and he sings on the track Lost Johnny. Their awesome and highly unnoticed. You should check out the tracks Brainstorm (Monster Magnet did a cover of it on their album SuperJudge)and Argone Accumulator.

I remember listening to Hawkwind about 20 years ago. I listened to 'Masters of The Universe' tripping on Acid. Great album. Also, 'In Search of Space' is a good one.

Saw them when I was about 18 - many years ago. Good show, from what I can remember - lots of sparkly lights. TBH, haven't really listened to much of them.

In fact probably shouldn't have posted. Sorry :)

What better song to trip to than this?:

    Masters of The Universe

I am the creator of this universe
The wind of time is blowing through me
And it's all moving relative to me,
It's a figment of my mind
In a world that I designed
    Charged with cosmic energy
Has the world gone mad or is it me
I am the center of this universe
And all that it was meant to be
So that we might learn to see
this foolishness that lives in us
And stupidity that we must suss
How to banish from our minds
If you call this living I must be blind

I'm still scratching my head as to how it took so long for me to learn about/hear about Hawkwind. Got my first two vinyl Hawkwind LPs clean and spun today- "Space Ritual" and "Hall of the Mountain Grill". Excellent!

Big thanks going out to major Hawkwind fan Henry Rollins. Henry talks about Hawkwind quite a bit in some of his books which is where I got the urge to hear this band. Hugely glad to be doing so! Great stuff!

Warriors on the Edge of Time I think its called is an album I know is probably incredible but I'm saving it for a rainy day (or starry night!). Something that reminds me of Hawkwind are Gong (the 'You' disc is amazing) and UFO, the album 'Flying' in particular. Those 3 bands are incredible. It is also worth hearing the Spacemen 3 and Ozric Tentacles's first 5 albums. The latter has a poor band name but they were incredible in the lat eeighties and early nineties.

Just ordered a copy of Doremi Fasol Latido. Can't wait to hear the studio version of "Brainstorm" on vinyl!

Mike McCready has a UFO tribute band, check out the tunes Star Storm and Silver Bird, so evident that his playing was influenced.

Hawkwind's Warriors on the Edge of Time is hard to find, its one of those hugely sought after hard copies (like UFO 'Flying') that go for small fortunes online, and I am too curmudgeonly to figure out lossless.
