Indianapolis venue question

Guys,

This is my first time going to this Indy venue. Can we tailgate there? I ask because some places are not cool with it like the amphitheater in Tinley Park and, I believe, the Meadowlands but then some are cool like the Irvine, CA amphitheater. So I just wanted to plan accordingly.

Thanks

I think you used to be able to, but a coworker who goes to Dave Matthews shows there every year said she was disappointed last year that they couldn't tailgate. So I think that's the current standard. (It's a LiveNation-run amphitheater nowadays.)

I saw Phish there last summer and people were tailgating and selling stuff in the parking lot and no one said anything about it, the cops were actually cool unlike in years past when I saw the Grateful Dead there. But maybe they just did that because it was Phish.

There was no tailgating for years, b/c of an incident with the Grateful Dead. In recent years they've relaxed the policy, but it seems kinda like a show to show policy with no rhyme or reason to it.
  • As a Deer Creek veteran, I must say, I've never been to a show where people weren't tailgating. Sometimes you're even allowed to bring in bottled water, as long as it's sealed. Those of you sitting in the glorious lawn, (no sarcasm, it's a great place!) keep your eyes peeled for fleets of UFOs....it's not uncommon

You can absolutely tailgate in the parking lot. Nobody cares. I will be getting there early to set up and start cranking the tunes. Getting out is a nightmare, but thats when you just realize its going to take 1-2 hours to vacate the lot and just pull out some chairs to relax.
