    Picard. Patrick Stewart's excellent acting gave TNG a serious edge to what would otherwise be cheesy sci-fi.

    Watch the episode where he is a Cardassian prisoner. I rest my case.

    Sisco wasn't a captain, so he's out. Picard is the obvious choice. Kirk never had a battle maneuver named after him.

    Yes - very hard to watch, and extremely well acted episode. Picard it is.

    Except I never understood why a guy who was supposed to be from France, and have French ancestors, had a British accent. Why didn't they just make the character British?
