the trees speak in a soft hushed tone
telling the story of the world
to anyone who will listen
and too few choose to hear

below the ocean of clouds
I hear the voice
new, yet familiar all at once
it speaks in a voice drunk on wisdom

the jasmine sways in the breeze
the springtime scent envelopes me
while the showers rage
in the not so far off distance

to the east the sky sets a different tone
ominous, yet enticing
like a smiling whore with a hand hiding death behind her back
or between her thighs

the trees speak in a soft hushed tone
telling me it’s time to go,
time to seek refuge
from the storm
