She shot herself up with an empty needle
if she was to feel nothing
it would be her choice.

She had spent nights pouring herself onto men's sheets
who had merely seen her
as just a stain.

She had surrounded herself with strangers
who curled words around fists
that flew like bullets.

She wore silence... like a gag.

She had been bound
to the cross that hung like a jewel around her neck
a faith, she knew, had been thought up by man.

She would need to feel her way now
if she could just...
feel.
Pepper- I am faith without religion, without bruised knees and pleas for forgiveness...
