I plan on buying the new album, whatever the artist/band name is on the front, I don't care. Bought a couple of the itunes-only bonus tracks last night. Pretty good. And Codine was supposed to be a pre-order bonus track, but it was there for me to buy it last night. So I was happy!

bought it this morning at work. We only got 4 copies in today.

Have to say I'm impressed. So far it's pretty good. I'm on "Samantha" (track 5) right now. Will report back after a full listen.

Ok just got done listening to it- Overall, great album. Doesn't sound too different from the previous two. I never cared for Hole's first album. dunno just didn't like it at all.
I heard it AFTER "Live through this", and "Celebrity Skin" and just didn't have the same vibe for me.

My fave tracks are: "Honey", "Pacific coast highway", "Samantha", "for once in your life", "Loser dust" , "Never go Hungry".

"How dirty girls get clean"- is so -so; it's starting to grow on me.

"Nobody's daughter" is good, but not as catchy as the other ones. "skinny little bitch" though it's not a bad song per se, it is, imho, the WORST song on the album.

Video of Courtney being interviewed on Letterman last night and Hole performing, I put a bunch of stuff on the site up about the album.

I think the album is fantastic and when it comes to recent albums by Grunge era bands, I'd say Nobody's Daughter is better than Alice In Chains' Black Gives Way to Blue. I think Backspacer beats both though, but I really like Nobody's Daughter. I'm curious as to how STP's new album will compare, I like what I've heard so far and I think it could give Backspacer a run for its money.
  • Samantha is one awesome track.

Totally agree, Nobody's Daughter trumps AIC's record for me too.

I enjoyed the interview too, it's kind of strange seeing Courtney so coherent!

...it's kind of strange seeing Courtney so coherent!

Unnervingly so! I kept waiting for her to slip into her usual train wreck mode at any moment. She seemed pretty reserved for the performance too, leaving me to wonder how entertaining a sober Courtney will be in the future. Sure wish Melissa Auf der Maur was back in the fold again, though.

have you hear ADM's new album? it's great! And Courtney seemed awful stiff during the performance. I said to my wife "I guess this is sober Courtney performing".

I actually think she seemed a bit nervous during the performance, I guess she has a lot riding on this album. I can't help feeling that she would be more into it if it was the 'real' Hole members up there with her.

  • I really like it and can't stop listening. Live Through this is one of my favorite albums of the 90's. I liked Celebrity skin alot, too. Nobody's Daughter can sit on the shelf with those two records any day of the week. Courtney can write a catchy tune, for sure. I'll definately check them out when they play Atlanta in June.

while I'm not one to care about band names and all that (see: Alice In Chains), Eric Erlandson was a huge contributor to the music, if not equal contributor, the argument could be made that he had more of an influence over the music than she did. This new album was written largely by other people, Linda Perry, Billy Corgan, and her new guitarist. I think CL wrote most of the lyrics. And BC has stated he's upset that CL is using the material he wrote for her without his permission.

that's what I don't get. If he wrote it for her, he wrote it for her with the intention of it coming out. My guess is it's just fallout from the falling out they had. Apparently Linda Perry has also distanced herself from the project, however not as overtly as Mr Pumpkin.

I dunno, just watching videos of the Hole line-up circa Celebrity Skin they just seemed like more of a band than the new incarnation.

My take on the situation is that Courtney decided that she wanted to distance the new record from the name Courtney Love because she's built up a pretty poor public image over the last few years. I don't think that she would have been so against a 'proper' Hole reunion, however the record was nearly complete and she couldn't very well phone up Melissa and Eric and ask them to tour an album that they didn't write or play on.

I saw them live, and they were pretty good for all 50 minutes.
