These four friends came to Hawaii to see PJ and the day before the show, Dave suddenly passed away.

I never personally met Dave, I learned of him thru his friends Rich, Jim & Earl, who I met while in Hawaii standing in line waiting to see Pearl Jam. We took a liking to each other and hung out together the rest of their time in Hawaii. I didn't find out about Dave's passing for a couple of days. I was just hanging with my new PJ buds and having a good time. It seems my purpose in these guys lives was to help them thru this difficult time in their lives.

The first time I heard Hawaii 78 it brought tears to my eyes and I believe that Dave was there with us enjoying one of the greatest PJ shows from the best seat in the house.

    I remember coming back from that show and reading about UConn Dave. Touching indeed.
    Hope all that were touched by Dave still hold him in your memories.

    damn i knew there was a reason i was spinning pearl jam all day yesterday. he was celebrated here in storrs.

    Life works in strange and amazing ways...........No doubt Dave was right there enjoying the band with you all. Except he was able to be within the music that hugged and wrapped itself around everyone.......Now that is amazing.

    I believe that the magical vibe from that show was all from Dave.

    to pass away early is bad enough..but before the PJ show...sucks even more IMO.
