What's everyone's opinion? Is it just gonna be another Sleater Kenney Snooze fest or am I actually going to enjoy it, ala Liam Finn?

Get their frist 2 albums and find out for yourself. That's what I did and now I am looking forward to Band of Horses almost as much as Pearl Jam in May...

Better than Kings of Leon, SleaterKinney and Ted Leo, but not as good as My Morning Jacket, as far as Pearl Jam openers goes...

I'm really excited about seeing them. They are extremely good!! I am happy they are opening!!!!!!!!
  • if they are half as good live as their albums, i think they'll be pretty good.
  • Thanks guys. I just started listening to them over the last two days and I like what I have heard so far. Just wasn't sure if any of you had actually seen them yet.

LOL!!....i just listened to a few of their songs on Youtube too.....and let me just say....i'll be enjoying the pre-party for an extra hour in each city....that guys voice is annoying as fuck!! but if they ever make Yogi's first Christmas into a live action movie i know who they can cast for the part of Herman the Hermit.
  • The new album comes out on the 18th. I heard is and it's pretty good too. You can hear three songs on their website.

Nah, I think his voice fits for the style of music they play. He does have a handsome beard though, no? If this Band of Horses gig doesn't work out in the long run, he'd fit right in with a Civil War re-enactment.

I like BOH, but that was pretty damn funny.

Cool Amoeba records link earlier. Listened to the different in-store performances. Evidence was tight.

I think BoH will be great. They get a decent amount of airplay on XMU but I don't know if they have a lot of exposure via local stations so they may be relatively unknown to many. Still, I think you'll like what you see & hear.

agreed. I am almost as excited to see them as I am PJ.But at the same time, haven't given BOH much of a chance to grow on me.

    +1

BTW these albums sound great on vinyl 8-)

i've only saw Black Keys live once. they were ok but not great. i could swear they just played the same song more than once. so many of their songs are so similar. i was kinda dissappointed that the Attack and Release stuff was just drum and guitar, too. somebody get these guys a keyboard player or something.

really looking forward to checking out BOF in 5 days though.
  • Saw BoH a couple years ago when they toured for Cease to Begin. They did a great cover of CCRs, "Effigy."

They'll be a great opener, and one you should make an effort to see.
