Vedder fresh off video shoot for 'Guaranteed' last night

I neglected to mention in this morning's item that Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder shot the music video for "Guaranteed" yesterday, the prevalent track from "Into the Wild," just before arriving on the Paramount lot for the festivities. This is the first music video the singer has appeared in since "Jeremy" -- 14 years ago. "Guaranteed" also appears to be his own favorite piece of work on the soundtrack and -- obviously -- the tune that awards strategists are positioning for the Best Original Song category.
I still dig "Society" and "No Ceiling" (however short) a little more, but it's all a bunch of audible goodness regardless.

VantageGuilds.com adds on yet again

It appears you can now listen to each of Eddie Vedder's "Into the Wild" tunes at VantageGuilds.com. The studio also says that it will soon be adding production notes and Jonny Greenwood's score to the "There Will Be Blood" section, an interview with Angelina Jolie to the "A Mighty Heart" section (presumably Pete Hammond's much publicized Q&A from Sunday night) and the music video for Vedder's "Guaranteed," which I mentioned in this space over the weekend.

I wonder how long it will take to show up? I just looked at the VantageGuild website and it's not there yet. :)

    lol i thought this too.

I'd love to see this vid. I definitely think Ed is looking to develop the next stage of his career by doing this.

That he's personally appeared in. Not stock footage from shows or claymation or other trickery - and not just stuff released for fans, an actual, commercial release like Do the Evolution was back in '98. A "real" music video, if you will. :)

wow, I guess this is the end of an era, next, MTV video awards :P
  • This news of an eddie vedder video is odd. Given PJ's shyness for videos and Ed's artistic control of the band and knowing that a music video would be beneficial in getting the good word of PJ out to the unconverted masses, why is Ed deciding to do his first video in 14 years as a solo effort?

Thoughts anyone? Is this the slippery slope towards the end of PJ?

I think it's probably that Ed is proud of the soundtrack he's put together as well as wanting his friend's movie to do well. So by doing a music video that will reach the masses watching TV, it creates more publicity for the soundtrack and the film.

Please give it a rest do, he's doing something different which is definately not PJ. Its the same with Stone and Brad, just because he choses to do something with them it doesn't mean its the end of PJ. I wish people would put their thinking caps on before posting and use some common sense. All this Pearl Jam split talk gets on my tits.

    Unfortunately.

Whats so 'unfortunate' about them then?
