Okay, need opinions.
Going to KC and St Louis shows w/ love of my life. I have the ring and am just waiting for the right time.
would a Pearl Jam concert be a good choice? Has anyone ever seen anything like this done at a PJ concert?
Maybe during Just Breathe? I dont want to do it and annoy people (especially the 6 on stage) by trying to steal the show.... but I could combine two of the most memorable moments in my life into one, big, heart pounding moment. We should have decent seats thanks to the 10 club... so, what does everyone think?
great idea or too cheesy?
thanks everyone, see some of you in early May!

  • Even if she is a crazy pj fanatic, you should still make it more about you both as a couple or her individually- her likes, memories that the two of you share, a dream, or just completely simple yet meaningful....
I think proposing at a concert/sporting event is so horribly dumb- even if she is a #1 fan.
IMO, make it special to her, for the both of you........ and please spare the rest of us in the crowd. :?

Keep the ring on you most of the time, and when you two are having a particularly good day, and you are alone, spring it on her.. Over planning can be really bad

I agree with all of this. the act itself is a big enough moment...

  • Believe it or not, I was considering the same thing a few years ago. My now-wife said she would hate a big public proposal with a bunch of people around. I had the ring too, so I took it with me on our trip to Vegas for the 2006 show, and was scared to death of losing it, carrying it around for a couple days etc... I took her advice and proposed BEFORE we went to the show, and she was happy. She said she stared at the ring during the songs she has heard enough times before. :)

They're terrible. While waiting in line for some of the Aussie GA shows in 2009 we were discussing proposals and the overwhelming concensus from the girls in the discussion was that they'd hate it and would say no if asked at a show. And this came from hardcore fans who were willing to sleep out or at least line up all day for good spots in the GA area.

Hey BB are you going to the MSG shows?

  • just because i like going against the grain, i say do it. make it a big production. nobody is going to say shit to you if you do, don't let all these people say you're going to be ruining a show for others. c'mon, you've been planning on doing it for a while now, otherwise you wouldn't have brought it up here. don't pussy out.....DO IT!

My fiance and I are huge concert goers and enormous lovers of music ...

We met at a concert ... Broken Social Scene/Bloc Party

We had our first date at a concert ... Wolf Parade

We went to Seattle last fall for the two Pearl Jam shows and ...........

    ...

    ...

    ...

... I was smart enough to propose to her on vacation in Cabo a month later.

DO NOT PROPOSE AT A CONCERT!

    The ultimate in lameosity, dude...

Really, was at SLC and found that to be rather a drag and was more for the guy than it was for her...Sorry to the folks involved, but it was very very LAME and attention-seeking... :P

Take it from a married person - private and surprise is the best...hubby woke me out of a deep deep sleep and asked me - had to make him ask me again to make sure that he wasn't just sleep-proposing! :D

do it before the shows, that way you can enjoy the moment of proposing then partying it up at the concert.

I had a second thought. Don't get married. Being single is way better. Get a dog and play the field. Single people can do whatever they want unchecked. Its bad ass.. "Yes those socks do go there"

I had planned to pop the question at a World Cup Qualifier between Australia and Uruguay in 2005.

After a day of solid afternoon/evening of drinking and chanting, and an epic qualifier that saw us historically qualify after extra-time and a penalty shootout whoch left us all physically and emotionally exhausted, I thought better of it.

Am glad I did, as I now have TWO separate events I can look back on fondly. :D

  • Oddly enough, me and my girlfriend have been dating for almost 2 years, and about 3 months ago, I showed her the video of the SLC proposal, and she said god, I wish that was me. So, needless to say, propose at a show if you know she is a huge fan like my girlfriend, but if Pearl Jam isn't her favorite band then hold back and feel her out on what might be a great place or do something crazy like walk in a women's public bathroom and slide it under the stall and say will you marry me? (Crazy idea, but if anybody steals it, I want some credit ;) )
