if these walls could talk
the stories would break hearts for sure
I try my hardest to not know the individual
or their fight

the “Former Prom Queen” from “mainline” high
a distant memory from some prom kings past
a shadow of herself, there is still a hint of beauty
but the tissue paper thin skin forces you to look away

“Old Man Mush Mouth” talking away
most times I have no idea what he has to say
but he laughs a lot, so it must be funny
so I just nod my head and laugh and pat him on the shoulder before I walk away

“Shaky Pete” in the corner listens to baseball
on a little handheld radio
every now and then he smiles
when he smiles he don’t look quite so lost

“Between the Lines Mary” with her crayons and books all day
Snow white and her Seven little losers her latest masterpiece,
has beautiful eyes that hides
a million miles of pain

if these walls could talk,…

I don’t want to know these people,…
I can’t carry the weight of their stories too.
Peace, Love.

Before my Mama left this world I visited her twice a day there at her nursing home.
Your words reflect beautifully the sadness of a life not quite passed and how difficult it is for us to embrace this and the thought of them leaving.
    Thank you
