Wine Country
Wine tasting
On the road again
The snake-like 101
Winding its way up the state
Leaving L.A. at last
Through Ventura
Santa Barbara to Lompoc
Until a destination is reached
The Hitching Post II
In Buellton
And don’t forget
The Windmill Inn
Wine tasting
Aged to perfection
`97 was a good year
So was `63
But who’s counting?
The ocean breeze off the coast
On a cool night
Like a woman's gentle hand
Through my rough, unkempt hair
Interweaving against the thin-skinned
Pinot Grapes
Santa Barbara
Solvang
San Luis Obispo
All the way north to Sonoma
Tilt the glass at an angle
Against the sun’s ray of light
Swirl it around
Just like Miles and Jack
Meeting up with Maya and the
Hot and Sultry
Stephanie
Who is yet to be spanked
For she’s been bad
But only in film
Never in the real
There’s no woman at the
Hitching Post II
Quite like that
No bartender who knows who you are
I’m just a stranger from L.A.
Taking a drive in my car
Wine tasting
And all its joy
All its rapture
We’ve aged like grapes hit by a breeze
From off the Northern California shore
Northern California
For sure
I can’t wait to make a return
To feel the glory of the grapes
As they tickle the palm of my hand
Soon transformed into a journey
Through my soul
Through my desires
I cannot ask for more
