i was walking through the city one day and after an encounter with the fruit bats i came across these chucks of stone just relaxing on the grassy knoll. they are set in a spiral pattern(which unfortunately you cant see here) and were gathered from the destruction of old buildings. where they sit is called the tarpeian way and it was here that sandstone was quarried for building in sydney as well as providing landfill for circular quay. so it only seems right that they find themselves back there

the work is called memory is creation without end by kimio tsuchiya. it symbolises the circular connection of past present and future. in salvaging and reconfiguring the stones the artist endows them with new life meaning and memory.
