The taper specifically asked that people didn't encode to MP3. Surely the fact that the guy got his gear into a high-security show and recorded it for all of us to enjoy, is enough for you to respect his wishes. Not only that, but you couldn't even be bothered to thank him on your website. You are bang out of order.
  • Yeah, the taper didn't want MP3's spread. So much for that.

Oh whatever, as soon as someone uploads a bootleg onto the internet it's gonna get encoded into mp3s. You give up that right when you decide to share it. Perhaps the guy didn't want to be named, who knows.

What are you on about? The taper put his name in the accompanying text file with the original torrent, he is extremely well known and respected in the live music recording / trading scene. For his efforts, all he asks is that people respect his wishes and don't spread his recordings in MP3. But the guy in this thread went a step further and threw MP3s on a website, with not even a "thanks to the taper" note. That absolutely stinks to me.

sadly people in this day and age don't give a shit bout all that or being respectful. Its gimmie gimmie this. I have great respect for the tapers/bootlegging community. I have been hooked up over the years by a few fellow pj fans who are in the taping/bootlegging community.

Btw- isn't it a rule on that you can post music without the artist rights. I hope the mods ban the OP for life breaking that rule and for not even saying a cheap/fake thanks to the taper who went to great lengths to sneaking in his equipment that's probably worth a grand or 2.

Rules 9 and 10 of the posting guidelines

    9. Please respect the band's Taping & Camera policy (https://www.pearljam.com/tenclub).
Trading audience-recorded PJ shows even-up, ok. No video. Bootlegs: Selling, linking to, or making offers are not ok. 2 for 1 trades is making profit, not ok.

    a. Please respect the Ten Club's ticket policy: http://www.pearljam.com/ten-club/tickets Non-TC Tickets: face value only (no brokers). Offering to pay any price for a ticket, linking to brokers or auctions offering above face value is not ok.

    b. On occasion the band amends their Taping and Camera policy to reflect special circumstances where they do not allow photos or audio recordings (for example solo shows, shows where they are a guest, etc.). Please respect their wishes by not posting or bringing bootlegged items here.

    10. Please respect an artist's copyright. Linking to or otherwise promoting stolen art is prohibited. If an artist's work is leaked online, don't post it here and please be careful when posting other people's images in posts.

Well fair enough if he put his name in there, sure a thanks wouldn't have gone a miss. However, I don't understand the whole pissy argument about not converting them into mp3's, if we're gonna talk about respecting people's wishes I'm pretty sure that the band wouldn't want this bootleg out there in any form. But, I'm sure they're also realistic enough to realise that in this day and age they have no real say in the matter, just as this guy doesn't have a say as soon as he chooses to share it.
  • Does anyone know how this will effect Camerons touring with Pearl Jam? I've got tickets for Heineken jammin in italy in July, and I want to see Cameron on the drums.

    Does anybody have a clue?

I absolutely love Soundgarden and am thrilled that they're playing again, but what will happen next?

Dave Grohl stepping in for Matt perheps? hehe

It's completely fine to convert flac to mp3. You just aren't supposed to trade them or upload them to sites. If it's really big deal to anybody, those people need to find somethin a little more important to worry about.

You are also supposed to RESPECT the tapers wishes and thank him. The OP couldn't even thank the taper, how ungrateful the OP is. You are also supposed to wait 2 weeks before putting live concerts on sites. Next time you download a concert just remember how much equipment was bought by the taper and how much bs a taper has to go through just get a concert recorded. We are lucky to live in a day and age where we don't have to pay 50 bucks for bootlegs and can download a concerts at will. You personally know all that but alota other people on here don't know that.

You talk like these are laws or something. Maybe the OP didn't get a copy of the rule book. Maybe he found the megaupload link as opposed to the original torrent, and just got excited and posted the link - it has been 13 years since they've played after all. I'm sure he will respond at some point, either way, as soon as it becomes public property you can kiss goodbye to any rights over how it's distributed.

No I'm not acting like that at all, I'M ACTING ON RESPECT FOR THE TAPERS WISHES. Which is something the OP or the person who encoded this or anyone else on here or on the interwebs didn't RESPECT. Next time you download a ed solo link from his 08 or 09 solo tour just remember where you got it from and the work a taper did to get it out on the web. 13 years my ass. That's the best cop out excuse you can come up with. LAME.

Besides I'm sure the 10c will make a dvd/cd combo of this. We all know how money hungry cornell is.

this is a long talk...did the OP respect taper wishes??no he didnt..but the same time, did the taper knew that if he post it this will happen ,to someone make this mp3?yes he did know that
did the taper respect band wishes NOT the show recorded,..no he didnt..did we all already download it and listen it?yes we did..so,my opinion is that im happy that someone pass me the link and someone tape it .and i have the chance to listen this show, that happen so many thousand miles away from my country..always people try to find a way to record shows..thats thing works..not good but this is how it is..

Why respect the taper over the band members who wouldn't even want it out there anyway? 13 years is a long time, it's understandable that people are excited about this. My respecting a tapers wishes isn't going to make it any easier for them to sneak in their recording equipment. Lame is getting yourself all in a tizzy about something so absolutely inconsequential and inevitable. Why would 10c be selling a Soundgarden bootleg?! I think the Matt Cameron link would be a bit tenuous.....Cornell money hungry? Hmm, ok so he's been in two huge multi-million selling bands, yeah I'm sure money is his main incentive. Ego, perhaps, but the dude's gonna be set for life money wise.
  • Not going to get involved with the drama. I just wanted to comment that the boys sound absolutely fantastic. I honestly can't believe how great Cornell sounded on Beyond the Wheel. This is indeed very exciting for the first real SG show. I still can't believe this is happening! Very exciting times. Can't wait to see what shows they do next....hopefully we'll get some kind of release from them soon....whether it be unreleased material or remasters of the older albums.

I said a long time ago during all the Scream bullshit, that the only way I could forgive Cornell is if SG got back together, which at the time seemed very far-fetched. I have to say, I can forgive the bastard now. Just wow.

Oh yeah and thanks so much for the link.

It's cause 10club also runs & own's the Soundgarden forum/page http://www.soundgardenworld.com/forum . Rumor was it might get released on flac/mp3/cd etc.. The merchandise sold, forum rules & mods who work there are also member's here @ 10club.

I posted over @ http://grungereport.net/2010/04/17/list ... ast-night/ & wanted to know if this source was the same source that was released on dimeadozen.org. The megaupload file is unavailable right now. Why respect the taper over the band member's is because what if that taper taped a show you were at, and the band never ever releases that show? Only way to listen to that show is by getting a copy from that taper. All the taper asks is to not change the files, to not encode the files to crappy mp3 files. Is it that hard to do? Everybody today is so spoiled & want to be somebody that it's a shame what has become to man. The flac file is only 666mb flac. You can upload an 666 mb zip file over @ megaupload.com. To post on the main grungereport website without giving any credits & thanks to who he/she got the recording is bullshit. How would you like it if somebody else get's credited for your work & the great job you did? I betcha you would care!

It's not that I disagree with the principle, it's just that well, shit happens. It was going to happen at some point, so why get so over excited? Given how hard the OP works on his own site, I would think that he just didn't think when he posted it.
