We're almost half-way there.
In a few short years!
I'm aiming for hundred, so
maybe it's time to reflect?
we live our lives young and thoughtlessly
and then and THEN
sometime, it hits us that
we're getting older.
and "Look where we are! How did we land HERE?!"
it's like an old song
how did we get here?
Is this my life?!
hmmm
we walked, we drove, we blindly flew...
In to
wherever we are!
Where ARE we?!
we're here, but are we happy?
hmmmm...
Yes, sometimes.
other times are boring
other times are maddening
other times are okay
people say
we're at the mid-point.
mid-point, oh...
I
think
that's FANTASTIC!!

I have learned from my mistake's and I've made some doozies
but I learned from them.
now it's time to move forward
now I understand the power and the good that the heart holds inside
and how special everyday is and that the friend's I have made
in my life are a timeless gift.
I'm sure that more mistake are on the way
but I will try to be a little more careful along the way.
your poem/story/comment made me think
how everyday is a new adventure and a gift
thanks for posting it.

(So often I put stuff up and it sinks like a stone to the bottom of the page.)
I know the feeling... I may not always feel your words, maybe cuz I'm too thick, but one of the times when I was all fucked up, your poem "white cover" reminded me of somethin still good in me which enabled me to write what I call our window, and I manage to find some peace in that, (and I hope others do too) so I thank you for that... and then there was that poem of yours about the wind and those who go out to sea, soon after which I happened to pick up Rime of the Ancient Mariner, which I'm still readin over and over... and I'm goin deeper n deeper : )
This has happened.... about 2 months ago. For the first time ever, I am completely saddened by my upcoming birth anniversary. But, I just need to "man-up" and move forward- accept that this life is what you make it.
I appreciate this piece- I took it in a much different way... I hope to someday be at peace and accept the things that I have no hold over.
Yes, I think as we get older we start to notice that decisions we've made along the way have led us to where we are. (Good and bad.) Things become more solid and obvious if we look in front of our eyes. (Even our physical bodies are evidence of care or neglect!)
Our relationships with people are built on a series of interactions, our financial stability (or instability) is the result of our working lives, our friendships (or lack of them) reflect how much time we've been willing to spend on them!
I recently decided I'm no longer sleeping late on Sunday mornings. That's time I've been giving away for too many years!!
