Happy Tax Day, everyone :)

Here's a tool that breaks down where your tax dollars went....

I'm guessing that Iraq and Afghanistan are the Military-Discretionary (rather than Military-Mandatory which seems like it'd be the baseline operations that keep the military running even in peace time). But I'm not sure.

I'm unhappy that I spent $61 on "Unemployment Insurance" and I'm not even eligible for it because I'm self-employed. I desperately needed it last year and I've certainly been paying into it for 20 years. But that's a whole other rant :)

  • I found some more info on the Military - Discretionary budget, where 33% of my dollars went. Turns out that those numbers don't even include Iraq and Afghanistan :o

"The recent invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan were largely funded through supplementary spending bills outside the Federal Budget, so they are not included in the military budget figures listed below"

I know where $1,500 of mine went while using H&R's instant return status . . . my local school district. Those little fuckers better be studying their asses off! ;)
