Words That David Foster Wallace Circled in His Dictionary
OK ... indulge me for a moment ... today's SLATE.COM had this article about the brilliant writer David Foster Wallace (who killed himself a year or so ago) and the particular words he had circled in his copy of the American Heritage Dictionary ... a lot of really weird words like pleach and recrudesce and tabanid that I had never ever heard of before .... there's a link below so you can check it out for yourself ... one word caught my eye however, and I was surprised to read its definition: AMENT ... the entry is below:
