Mine has to be "Decoration Day."

That entire album is excellent.

I don't have just one, but here are a few of mine:

    Feb 14
    The Day John Henry Died
    Heathens
    3 Dimes Down
    A Ghost To Most
    Easy On Yourself
    Daddy Needs A Drink
    Daddy Learned To Fly
    Space City
    Let There Be Rock
    Ronnie and Neil
    Birmingham

I guess if I really had to narrow it down to one, it'd probably be Heathens. Cannot wait to see them on May 12th. :D

    9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1

Great list, "Heathens" is definitely up there for me.

Two more songs that are up there: "Outfit" and "Lookout Mountain."

Indeed. Truthfully, you can't go wrong with DBT.

Have you heard any of Patterson's solo stuff? I'm curious as to how it is.

...and on second thought, I wanted to add that I personally think the version of "Heathens" from their Live at ACL album is a textbook example of musical perfection.

    The keyboard...
    the pedal steel...
    Hood and Cooley's guitars... :geek:

To be honest, I just got into this band recently, so there's still some more material I have to listen to. I haven't heard their early albums or Patterson's solo material. I haven't heard a whole lot of their live boots, either.

I'm glad I started to listen to them though!

You've made a wise choice. I haven't heard their early releases either.

The earliest I've listened to is Southern Rock Opera.

They are a great, hard-working band. Their new album is pretty damn awesome too.

Yeah, the new one is fantastic.

I think I read that they recorded a bunch of other material at the same time for a future release, but I could be confusing them with a different band; does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I'm pretty sure I've heard that too. THat they've basically got an entire album ready to go, they're just waiting to release it.

The great thing about being a DBT fan is their load of material. I've yet to get their early albums and their B-sides...which I've heard is quite good too.

    Hard to pin down.

    •"Outfit"
•Live Version of "18 Wheels Of Love"
    •"Late For Church"
    •Zip City

There are a lot of favorites for different reasons.

Going to Chattanooga next weekend...I will not, in fact, throw myself off "Lookout Mountain". ;)

Man...that's a good song. What a way to end an album.

    Lets see...

I'll go by album, it's not easy.

Gangstabilly: Steve McQueen. Such a kickass song live, although any number of other tracks on this album hold the test of time.
Pizza Deliverance One of these Days
Southern Rock Opera: Days of Graduation --> Ronnie and Neil. First tracks I heard of this band, and immediately sets the tone.
    Decoration Day: Marry Me.
Dirty South: Puttin' People on the Moon
Blessing and a Curse: World Of Hurt
Brighter than Creations Dark: The Righteous Path
Fine Print: George Jones Talkin' Cell Phone Blues
The Big To-Do: After the Scene Dies

Less than a month for me till the next rock show. May 6th. I'm hoping we get Living Bubba/People Who Died. Seen the DBT 5 times, never seen either of those songs live.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Just in case, I'll take your records and tapes. But not your credit card bills.

One of my favorites is Danko/Manuel, a great tribute to The Band.
  • If I had to narrow it down it would probably come down to Lookout Mountain and A Ghost to Most
But, as someone else, THIS IS A STUPID QUESTION!! :D

    Other favorites would be
    Space City....has personal meaning
    Three Dimes Down
    Marry Me
Shut Up and Get On the Plane
    Goddamn Lonely Love
    Gravitys Gone
    Easy on Yourself
    The Righteous Path
    COTTONSEED
    Carl Perkins Cadillac

Current favorites off the new one are
    Birthday Boy
    After the Scene Dies

This is such a great band it's damn near impossible to pick the best and there are really no wrong answers.
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

probably decoration day. telling the hatfields and mccoys from the perspective of the son whose father's sins are visited upon him is brilliant. but if i have to pick sides between patterson, cooley and isbell, it's patterson. cooley and isbell have about 10-12 great songs each. patterson may have a slightly lower batting average, but he's got at least 25. and for whoever asked about patterson's solo albums, murdering oscar is excellent, killers and stars is not.
