★ BEFORE READING, PLEASE CLICK LINK ABOVE ^^^ JUST TO MAKE SURE ALL THE INFO IS CLEAR ★

:)

SHIPPING INFO ADDED:
For those who aren't going to NYC, or would prefer to travel light, I am providing shipping options!

I usually ship via The UPS Store, located a couple of doors away. I had them quote shipping of 2 pictures, based on the "maximum" poster size of 19x25, which would make the outside of the frames no bigger than 27x33.

BOXING/PACKING/PEANUTS: $25
...or FREE if you are ordering 2+ frames

To help make this as inexpensive as possible, if you are ordering 2 - 3 frames I will eat the $25 packing fees from UPS Store. I hope some of you take advantage of this!!

SHIPPING GROUND ESTIMATES:

-with $100 worth of insurance-
(extra insurance available for about $1.50 per $100 covered)

• 19064 PA $37 shipping
• 08203 NJ $37 shipping
• 60601 IL $45 shipping
• 59101 MO $60 shipping
• 02101 MA $39 shipping
• 06611 CT $37 shipping
• 48201 MI $40 shipping
• 11004 NY $37 shipping
• M4B 1B3 TORONTO CANADA $75
• 29014 CHIPAS, MEXICO $282

You get your choice of seven frames (with color-stripe of your choice) and matting of your choice. See link at the top of this post for full info.

edit: This isn't for the MSG 2010 poster. Just for posters you have in your possession by April 26th, then you ship them to me for framing, and I'll deliver them to the MSG preshow (pending this is ok with the organizers). :)

edit #2: Of course, some people are interested but at certain prices, so feel free to discuss on here "I'm interested but only at the 6-10 price or less" and whatnot. Until I see the word "confirmed" in your posts, you will have a "tentative" reservation for framing. :)

PRICING INFO:

Regular price for this framing: $265

Special Quantity Discounts:

QUANTITY GROUP DISCOUNT PRICE PER PICTURE
1 - 5 Posters $45 off per piece $219 ea
6 - 10 Posters $66 off per piece $199 ea
11-15 Posters $80 off per piece $185 ea
16-20 Posters $93 off per piece $172 ea
21-30 Posters $96 off per piece $169 ea
31-40 Posters $106 off per piece $159 ea

edit #3: Transportation of framing back to your home.

-If you are driving to NYC, then this is the easiest way to transport. Put in car and you are done.

-If you are flying, and can take a suitcase under the plane, this will also be easy, as long as your suitcase can accommodate about 27" x 33" x 1.5" per picture. I will be bubblewrapping each picture lightly, then cutting cardboard to size, for those who will be flying with luggage. Your clothing will act as packaging around the cardboard surrounding the framing.

-If you are flying, and are only taking carry-on, and cannot take a suitcase, then this is the only scenario where transporting will be a problem.

-Shipping info now available up at the top.

Be sure to read all the info here, which shows the frame, matting and glass options:
http://westendframing.com/pearl-jam-poster-framing.html

:)

So, let me get this straight Hoff, you're getting the MSG posters ahead of time, framing them all and delivering them before the show at the pre-party? Sorry, I've had a few beverages this afternoon.

    Oops, sounds like a miscommunication.

This is for the framing of YOUR pj posters from whatever shows you have them. I'm not supplying any posters. I would be framing posters from your collection, and since so many of us are coming to the MSG show, it makes sense (and saves on shipping) to deliver to the preparty in NY. :)

Thanks Stugots. Yes, as far as custom framing prices go (and with premium Bainbridge museum quality mats, TruVue Conservation glass, Bainbridge Museum foamboard, and cool blackframes with the color-stripe) it's pretty darn good.

...and if you need frames for your posters in Chitown, maybe someone you know is coming to the NYC shows?

That's pretty awesome Hoff. I am seriously considering this. Now the problem, how do I keep the framed posters safe during the concert after I pick them up from you before the show?

    Good question.

First things is I'm waiting to hear back from the organizers of the pre-party to see if I can even bring these to the party (I don't want to disrupt anything they're planning).

As long as the organizers don't mind, you could keep the framing either in a vehicle (if you're driving) or in the hotel you're staying at.

Or if you know someone from your area who is also traveling and has a car (if you're flying, and if you're not staying over night) then maybe someone would volunteer to keep them in their car.

I've driven with tons of valuable stuff in that area of NYC and never had a break-in problem... though I would recommend covering items in a car up with a blanket or something, just in case.

Awesome idea for business and awesome thing to do for 10 clubbers. And you didn't even mention that you used to work there  Kudos on the great idea.

I really wish you were closer or that there was some feasable way for you and I to get together! I still have about 125 prints to do and the place I got my last 100 done closed their doors a few months back. There are no good framers here in town either! Just the majors, and they are expensive and suck!!

Unfortunately I don't have a photo with the frames on a poster. If you take out a ruler, the frame width is about 1.25 inches.

If you have a mouse that has that wheel thing between the left and right click, you can make the picture bigger on your screen.

Go to the picture of the frames, then hold down the Ctrl button. At the same time, scroll UP on the wheel about 8 clicks. That should make it close to life-size. When you're done, scroll the wheel back down the same amount of clicks on the wheel.

Have to give Hoff here some props. This is a great idea for those that are roadtripping to NYC for the shows. I had two prints (sadly neither were PJ) framed by him and let me say they are absolutely gorgeous. Great care in handling the prints, framing for preservation, and the quality of the frames/job is top notch. He has a great eye too for this business - we ran through a couple ideas and he completely came up with the frame/mat combo for one of my pieces. If i lived near him in VA, he'd be my goto guy for just about all my framing needs. All around cool dude...you wont be disappointed...

Here's a mock-up with a PJ print. With the color-lines being thin, it's hard to see on a small mockup, so I made a closeup of a corner too.

The photo is too big for the forum, so just click on this link to see the mock-up with the SLC poster:

I really want to do this....but Im flying to NY from Toronto....might be a little much traveling back with a framed podter. Great deal Good on ya brother

I hear ya. Traveling with the framed posters back home on an airplane would be the only possible hitch - but not bad if you're bringing a suitcase.

If you are putting luggage under the plane, then this would work fine as long as your suitcase can accommodate 27" x 33" x 1.5" as long as clothing can be used around the picture to pad the framing.

I'm planning on lightly bubblewrapping each picture, and I can cut cardboard for the front and back of each, for anyone flying. This would make a sandwich of protection which would be pretty safe inside of luggage.

If you are flying carry-on only, then that's the one scenario that would not work (unless you know someone driving, or who can put framing in their suitcase).

I'm making a "TENTATIVE LIST" at the bottom of the original post.

If you are interested but need to find out how low the price goes before committing, just post in this thread "Tentative For 3 - Pending price gets down to $____" and I'll post you in the tentative list.

This way, everyone can see at a glance how many people are interested, and the quantity discount it would be.

    Here's a mock-up with the Toronto '09 poster, with the yellow-striped frame.

Are people interested in this? I've had a number of PM's, and I know it all depends on how many people join in.

For those interested, please post on this thread "Interested in getting (X quantity) framed at $____ price maximum" and I'll start organizing the names and quantities on the original post... and it will all be tentative until people say they are confirming their order.

Glad an answer questions too. :D

  • Sweet idea, this is awesome! If I had the funds I'd be in. I read one of your posts from another topic regarding framing (about museum glass). How/What is the best way to frame a poster? What type of glass and why? If there's already a topic on this somewhere, could someone direct me. Thank you!

Framing a poster with matting keeps the art from touching the glass. Prints can stick to the glass over time, so keeping the paper from touching is important, if you are concerned about preservation. Spacers can also be used, but spacers work best if the art is drymounted, which is not recommended for anything of value. Also how the art is attached to the backing board, and what the backing board is is important as well. If you drymount a poster, or if the poster is attached incorrectly (which I've seen from opening up other frame jobs) it can negatively hurt the artwork and value.

Best glass for protecting the artwork is a tie. TruVue Conservation Glass and TruVue Museum Glass are the best glass. Museums use them both and they both have the protective film.

Reflection wise, TruVue's Museum Glass is the best out there. It gives back less than 1% reflection, and the reflections you do see are dulled-down with a hue of blue that is hard for your eye to see. So if you see reflections, it should be relatively dark with Museum Glass. Conservation Glass looks like regular glass reflection.

There are other cheaper generic conservation glass products out there, or some of the big-box stores use "seconds" of Museum glass that have imperfections, but both TruVue Conservation and Museum Glasses are the top of the line.
