Anyone been watching these recently? I've watched them all - all great in their own ways. The most recent one, June 17th, 1994 was really done well and makes you look back at all that was going on at once - pretty crazy to say the least. Also looking forward to tomorrow's airing of the Two Escobars - which discusses the Columbian drug wars and soccer.

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis

I could imagine the frustration as a sports fan watching such a thing.

It's not all that comparable to the same level by any means, but I'm a huge Indy Colts fan in the NFL. I went to the Super Bowl this past year and watched them lose to New Orleans. Albeit, I am not happy about it in the least, I can atleast look at it after the fact in my sports misery and know it meant something special and significant to the people of that region (after Katrina and all). Will never be happy bout it, but I can see it atleast. The South Africa thing was so much more than a mere game or tournament and I'm sure as a bystander, most can see it's significance and importance well after the fact, even if you were rooting for the losing team. :D
I'm a Colts fan and I would have been just fine with adding more misery to Louisiana if it would have meant another Super Bowl victory ;)

There's a great podcast by Bill Simmons (Sports Guy) with the producer of that documentary and they discuss how they sync'ed up the chase with those recently public phone calls (which were never allowed as evidence). Certainly very telling to say the least.

And you forget how really insane it was with all that stuff going on at once.

Yeah, should be good. So many great stories or things that people heard in passing or thought they knew about, then we find out more... good stuff.

He made my bicycle ride for AIDS research from Raliegh NC to DC look like very small potatos. I do know some of the suffering he went through when out on those lonely country roads. Still it wasn't even close. May he continue to RIP.

what is amazing is that terry fox has literally inspired the world ... there are like something like 60 countries that have terry fox runs ... and it's the world's largest single one day fundraising event for cancer ...

Tonight I believe there's something to be shown featuring the Boston Redsox, this should be interesting.

Yeah - I'm not a Yanks fan (am from NY though), but I pretty much hate Masshole sports fans. As I always say, Boston is a lovely city, just filled with awful sports fans

And on a personal note, it makes me pretty sick to see how quickly people jump on a bandwagon, and how celebration can turn into arrogance. All those sox fans who used to hate the Yanks as the evil empire are now no different, but can't admit it to themselves (same goes with the whole steriod/cheating issue).

Yeah, he hoped for a dollar for every Canadian... To date (according to CBC) the run has raised $553 million dollars, or 20x his original goal, without any corporate sponsorship. The run also takes place over 5 continents. Well done Terry, well done.
