want to begin learning the guitar and want to start out with an inexpensive acoustic. Saw this one (Fender DG-8S) on Craigslist for $100. I think it retails for just over $200. Assuming its in good shape is this a good deal and a decent guitar to start out with? thx

    Just a great beginner tip
I got mine at Newbury Comics - they are scales chart but way better - not a poster or a book - but like a card cutout of the neck and head of the guitar strings and all - and a separate one for each set of scales - so there are these 30plus flashcards for learning cords - go snag that for $15

    they look kinda like

i should say very much like

    oh here they are unfolded

But cool guitar and really pick up one of the Scales Deck

bought it! now to play it. looked at some 'black' tabs and was surprised this song is so simple...just gotta work on the strumming and rythym, chord changes arent so bad. thx for all the advice, these threads are helpful

I go against the grain and feel like its better to start with an electric, its easier on the fingers, teaches you how to let notes and chords ring out. Its alot easier to give up guitar and get frustrated when its an acoustic. Of course people will tell you that you will learn better chops on an acoustic, but i started on an electric and i can play almost every pj song now...something to consider.

take it you are learning the 'open' chord version of Black? cos the barre chord version is not for beginners imo.

best of luck though and enjoy yourself... thats whats most important! :)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
