Myles Kennedy

Just gotta say this guy is one of the most talented musicians i have ever seen. I know he was in a band called the Mayfield 4, that opened for dog sh!t creed years ago but i cant believe he alone was not discovered years and years ago. I beleive he is actually close to 40 now but at the height. I really dig alter bridge but damn his songs on the new slash record are amazing. I happened to meet him in NYC at a PRS guitar event once and a real nice humble dude. He was in town recording his solo record which comes out later this year.
How about this for a 2010 resume
2 sick songs on Slash record, Frontman for Slash touring band, Alter Bridge 3 record completed and to be released, possible AB tour begins and a solo record.

Rubbish, he mixes up his tone a lot depending on the style of the songs, at times he is the closest we have to Jeff Buckley, and I would never have said Buckley was 80's sounding.

very soulful voice in fact.
Couldn't disagree more. The guy is amazing.
I was fortunate enough to see Mayfield 4 in little clubs in Seattle back in the day. I've seen him with Alter Bridge a few times. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him on the Slash tour.
Yeah that's him.

I agree, he is a great singer and a decent frontman. W met him in 2008 at a festival and got some photos taken of us and have to confirm that he is a modest and down to earth person who lets himself accessible to the fans for a brief chat. I like the latest songs he did with Slash and am really looking forward to seeing them at the very same festival in Austria!

The guy who actually did the singing for Marky Mark in that movie was the lead singer for Steelheart, a hair metal band that's bit hit "I''ll Never Let You Go" came out just before the hair metal world came crashing around them thanks to our friends from Seattle. Yeah, it's cheesy, but this dude could wail too.

I don't think that performance is being shown until Monday.

Incredible? He sounds horrible singing Nightrain and Civil War and only ok on SCOM. Slash sounds great playing Civil War but Myles is just really really bad.
Axl is that you?!
Seriously though, he hits pretty much all the notes on SCOM and Paradise City, and this is after 13 days worth of rehearsals, not bad at all. Personally I would take this over listening to Axl croak his way through their back catalogue these days.
And bad how? Fair enough if you don't like the tone of his voice, but he's got incredible power and range - that's not really debatable.
I just listened to Nightrain again, I can't stand how he sings the chorus, really cheesy, hair metal wannabe sounding. He can do a good Weiland impression and when he stays in the lower ranges he sounds ok on the GNR tunes but I can't stand when he starts singing higher. Its not just when he sings GNR, that's exactly what I thought when I heard the song Starlight, I prefer Back from Cali on the album but still not great. This touring band Slash has put together makes me think he should of just called it Snakepit 3.
As far as Myles sounding like a 'hair metal wannabe', what would you expect when he's singing hair metal songs?! Of course G'N'R were a cut above the rest, but those songs are very much a product of the 80's.
Yeah cheesy is a subjective word to be honest, to each their own. Care to point me in the direction of some of these GNR covers?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.
