Woodstock 2010 announced: Pearl Jam there?

Ok, I'm gonna try to stop shivering now that I have found a third trustfull source confirming: a new Woodstock Festival is to be held near São Paulo, Brasil, in early october...

and guess what? :shock:
Pearl Jam is the main name rumoured to headline it so far!

It is said this brazilian producer Eduado Fischer (very sucessfull organizing two huge electornic music festivals around the country - XXXperience and Tribe for several years) have reached an agreement with Perry Farrel to bring it to life!

Other bands on the spotlight to maybe be a part: Foo Fighters, Bob Dylan, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine, Green Day and Linkin' Park.

Ok, now if you excuse me I'll pray, light incenses, write to any pagan idols I can find and dance to the moon hoping it is not just a hoax. Thank you!

im surprised Fischer hasnt gotten the who or few other woodstock 69 acts to play. the whole woodstock concert is a joke now. whats next bringing back the monterey pop festival :roll:.

i remember reading this a while back. it's not woodstock...it's a festival put on by the woodstock promoters.

Lame... those promoters suck after the catastrofuck that was Woodstock '99. They should be ashamed to ever promote anything again, much less call it WOODSTOCK and hold it in a DIFFERENT FUCKING COUNTRY! :roll:

i dont think there is any woodstock this year by those promoters anywhere, doesnt it takea tleast a year to organzie a big festival like that, and if the dates and bands have not been announced yet, cant see how it would happen, most bands have their summer tours already planned anyway.

Why would they have a 1969 setlist up from the get go?....But, I don't know if it was there from the get go or not?...I really never did pay attention..

lol woodstock stole woodstocks name. there should have only been one woodstock, the others were just a scam.

I talked my friend who lives in Sao Paulo today..She heard on the radio that pearl jam will release the new ep in December...Plus, possible South America tour in November/December or early next year...This information came from a dj...So, take it with a grain of salt...

As for the opinions about STEAAAAALING the Woodstock concept... well, of course you're entitled to an opinion... I just think it is a little bit harsh to treat it like this.
So... there is no more Chelsea playing soccer in England just because they have a new owner too?
No more Boston Celtics since someone bought the franchise back in 2002? Did they STEAAAAL the name too?

It is just a homage to something worth to valuate, guys, come on...
Call it Woodstock, try to make it happen, respect the legacy...
This is not such a big deal for you to piss on it like it was something horrible, ridiculous or criminal!

All I'm saying is be a little more creative. They came up with different names for the other festivals. Why not come up with an original name? The name "Woodstock" now has a negative feeling with it to some people. Speaking as a child of the 90's, I now associate it with Corporate America, exactly what it should not be.
