What if we could erase the past
the chance meeting
the long nights

What if I could dissolve the memories
the smiles and lol's
the tears

What if you could take back all of the kind words
the misery and false hope
the frustration

The incredible facade I didn't see though
now, it seems to have tattooed itself on the insides of my eyelids
When I blink
When I sleep
When I dream

Everything is tarnished
but for some reason I can't seem to wipe my hands clean
they are stained with the incredible pain of your words
scarred with all the hope that will never be

Sometimes you have to teach yourself to let go
but what if your mind knows better
and your heart won't disconnect

I should have known better the day I spilled
Your response spoke volumes
Unfortunately, my ears had been severed
