  • is it just me, or does anybody else feel that its wrong they still have the name "alice in chains"? i feel like they never even acknowledge the fact that the real lead singer isnt alive. i would have given them more of a chance if they came back with a different name. its like a cover band to me, dont like it one bit.
  • i disagree with you, but thats not what this post is about anyway so ill let it go

Get over yourself ya fuckin' poser. The new AIC album is better than anything the band have done from 3 legged dog onwards. Stayley was an ok vocalist but nothing special. AIC haven't lost anything with the new guy, in fact they are probably better off because they don't have to carry a loser like Stayley.

Actually, they acknowledged it a lot. That's why it took them about 6 years to replace him after he died, and why they didn't leap right into making a new album to cash in on the name. Go read any one Jerry's interviews from the past year or so, and in almost every one he mentions how the loss of Layne affected him and the band. And if I recall correctly, when they first got Will, they had a video playing before the show that was a tribute to Layne, as well as having it on their website. It's not like they're throwing Layne under the bus.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

no offense, but you're fucking crazy :)

BGWB was the most generic crap i ever heard. sounds like they were shamelessly trying to copy Godsmack, who shamelessly tried to copy the original AiC. watered down ass.
  • actually, I really liked the new AIC. I think they did a really good job of not trying to sound like Layne. I heard so many idiots say "he sounds exactly like Layne". He sounds nothing like him at all! And that's not a bad thing either!!

But I'm also not all hung up on a band using a name. It's a fucking name. Who cares. If you're all hung up on a name of a band then you are buying the cd for the wrong reasons in the first place.

I started a post about this a couple months ago and got a pretty bad response to it. But I agree with you, atleast change the name. It's like Jerry can't make it without using that name. His solo project really didn't go no where.

I kept the Seattle Times article from the day Kurt was found dead and also the Seattle Times piece from Layne. What bugs me out is that Kurt was on the cover while Layne's notice was really small. It still haunts me to this day that we lost two Seattle area talents like that.

    Keep 'em alive by listening
