Glad I got to get these up since the site was hacked on Saturday, but I've got it back in time for this. I used just about all of the stuff you guys posted in my thread from last week.

Realistically, Cobain was not that good. PJ albums from 91 thru 94 blow Nirvanas away. In fact I would rate Cobains music as average at best. Bleach, crap, Nevermind, half good, In Utero, half good, they're average. Take the first 6 Black Sabbath albums all awesome. First 6 Led Zep albums, all awesome. First 5 Metallica albums, all awesome. First 7 Iron Maiden albums, all awesome. Funny thing about Nirvana is that there's people who act like everything they did that meant so much to them but in all honesty they are full of shit. In all honesty Nirvana are fuckin' shit and I especially think that people in their mid 30s and over who still think they're the best band ever need to grow the motherfuck up.

To summarise, what I'm saying is that Nirvana are completely overrated and those that continue to carry on about how great their legacy is need to examine exactly what it is they're talking about. It's not that much, 3 albums, all that are half good half forgettable, Nevermind with 4 hit singles plus Territorial Pissings and Lounge Act which every one rates, Bleach which everyone pretends to rate even though it's actually really crap ( School and Negative Creep are song loads of phonies pretend the like ). Finally, In Utero, Heart Shaped Box and All Apologies and a whole bunch of noise and crap. Plus Incesticde, 80% rubbish.

    Honestly, Nirvana are a joke.

Honestly, Kurt hasn't been missed. Nirvana was a product, if it meant anything Grohl would have continued in the same vein.

Some people miss Kurt Cobain and respect his musical talent and wish he could have grown like Pearl Jam has these past years. We will never know Kurt's potential but I beg to differ he is missed.

and if I'm not mistaken, today is also McCready's birthday...

I am a little confused though, did Layne not pass away in Feb or March 2002?

given that many of your favourite bands are 70's/80's metal, it is no surprise you feel this way.

Grohl is a different songwriter/musician. Why the hell would he want to just "continue" where Kurt left off?

Many of us miss Kurt and his music, so saying that he hasn't been missed is ignorant at best.

I,for one, miss both of them.

Especially because when both bands were around (or in AIC's case, AIC with Layne, of course) I was too young to really appreciate them. I was 2 and 8 when Kurt & Layne died. Now, when I'm really into their music, they're gone. It's sad, but we still have incredible music to listen to to remind us of their legacies.

So thank you for all the great music, and R.I.P. guys.

  • Saying Nirvana is overrated is like saying the Beatles are overrated. It doesn't make you a rebel. It means you have little understanding of what makes a band good. Nevermind is half filler? Incesticide 80% crap? Hilarious! Dream on buddy!
