To be honest, I saw both those movies and I'm not overly impressed by 3D. There's still a lot of work to go into it. To me, it looks a bit like a diorama - the background way too flat compared to the rest of the image.

did you watch regular 3-d or Imax 3-d?

Imax is just a huge screen. I still believe 3D has someway to go.
  • I just took off the 3D glasses during Clash of the Titans. Horrible!!! You can tell they made it a 3D movie after the fact.

The movie itself wasn't very good...

just about to say the same thing...they added in the 3d after the movie was made, while Avatar was filmed in 3D, makes a world of difference

Yeah I heard that yesterday before I went to see the movie.

The 3D was literally so bad that it was much better without the damn glasses. Whoever decided they should do that, ought to never have a job again.

So far, the only 3D film I've seen has been Alice In Wonderland, and I went to see it because I usually enjoy Burton's work. All in all, not a bad experience. The film was alright and the effects.. Alright, sometimes distracting. Did not like the glasses though.

I'm not against 3D films, but I'm not exactly cheering them on. Like said, there's a difference in filming the whole thing in 3D and converting it later. If filmmakers start adding 3D effects just for the sake of 3D, I'm pretty sure the flood of worse-than-average films will tone the excitement down. Because, let's face it, a lot of the "hit" films nowadays are utter tripe and making them three-dimensional isn't gonna help.

As for adding 3D to older (possibly classic) films, I really don't see the point.

Anyway, one thing that I thought of while watching Alice: Filmmakers definitely haven't thought of subtitles. Which is fair enough. Still, that was something that I paid attention to. Reading someone's lines from inside their shoulder blade was a bit surreal. :P

one again, instead of making quality movies, hollywood thinks making every movie in 3d will make us all forget how shitty the movies they make are...i mean, they're converting 2d movies into 3d...a piece of shit is still a piece of shit regardless if it's coming at me

Yes - presentation over content has always been something I've disliked. The story is the most important thing.

I've seen exactly 1 3D movie, when I took my kid to see the Jonas Bros in 3D. If Trent Reznor had managed (he tried to work it with James Cameron but shitty Interscope created some problems) to have a 3D movie of the Lights in the Sky 08 tour, I would have seen it. There are perhaps some topics that would do well with 3D, but they have to be something people would like in 2D anyway, IMO.
