So I own a small digital camera (a casio exilim - i think its called) and anyway, anytime I try and take photos at shows they turn out horribly. I've tried messing with the settings a lil bit but never remember to until I'm there and dont want to spend minutes effing with the camera and miss the show. Anyone have this same camera or something similar that can give me some pointers? thanks & see you in Columbus

I'm not sure about the settings on your camera, but if you have any manual settings at all try to make sure the aperture is set as low as possible, the ISO is as high as it can go without creating images that are too grainy and the shutter speed is as slow as possible without creating blur. The better the lighting the more room you have to alter the settings to a higher shutter speed (I'd still leave the ISO high and aperture low unless it's a very well lit gig/outdoor gig in the sun/natural light).
Unfortunately some cameras only have 'scene' selections - in which case I'd alternate between the night time scene option and 'sport' scene option and see which one gives the better results.
If you want to have a look at the settings I've used at gigs you can have a look at them for each photograph. All of the ones taken with the Lumix are from a small point and shoot camera:
