    Thanks, Pandora!
I smile, but who am I kidding...
  • No, I don't believe it is Friday.
Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. You are free... free to do what the government says you can do.
  • So true. I'm not highly religous but I was raised to go to church every Sunday....though now I only go on Easter, Mother's Day and sometimes Christmas. My thoughts have always been just what you suggest Pandora.
Whether one believes Jesus was the son of God or not and even if they don't believe in God at all, the teachings of Jesus are pretty good stuff for the world to live by....wouldn't it be a better place for the most part if we did
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

yes but without the claim of divinity we wouldnt celebrate good friday at all regardless of jesus's message.

A friend of mine always takes Good Friday off and uses the day to remember her son who passed away at 3 months old. Does anyone else use this day to remember loved ones who have died?

My father passed on a Good Friday, although I received the news early the following morning. I think of him because of the anniversary but really I think of him pretty much daily.
To honor our loved ones past on the day we honor Jesus is a very nice thought.
So very sad to lose a 3 month old. My heart has a hard time embracing that. Perhaps your friend found some peace with Jesus.

Yes, she has found peace with Jesus. It's probably the only thing that's gotten her through her difficult life. Her son was born sick, by the way, and just wasn't able to make it any longer. This was over 30 years ago. :(

Odd when you think about it. In English it's called Good Friday, but where I am from if you translate it into English it's Long Friday ... reckon it was a pretty long day for our longhaired carpenter.
But enjoy it in every which manner you guys are used to, we usually drink snaps, eat raw herrings and drink one or two too many beers - and so shall I.
Have fun, walk hard and stay alive.

Long Friday- yes a long day indeed and I like that "our longhaired carpenter", that will stay with me.
Denmark- My fathers family was Danish, I'm tracing my family tree. My parents loved herring, it was always part of the holidays but I don't care for it either.
Enjoy your day and thanks for posting
