Well for me anyways.
As I live under my parents roof I have to respect their rule, no music or activity during this day out of respect for Jesus dying on this day.

A day without music is like a day without food.

They just see music as intended to party and celebrate to, I argued that not all music is like this.

  • My mom is highly religious but she never had any rules like that at all for me when I lived with my parents. I've never heard of that before and I live in the south. My mom is methodist. I too don't really understand the idea of no music or anything on the day, but I guess it is a sign of reverance and respect....which makes me think of something I had happen to me a while back.

I went with a friend to the local VFW because the brother of one of our friends was playing in the band there that night. We were sitting around the table talking and drinking and at some point I flipped my cap around backwards. In a minute this dude comes over and starts lecturing me about having respect for the veterans and if I would please turn my cap back around. He said 'it's disrespectful to the veterans in here.'

I'm all for respecting veterans but really?? Hell, my dad is a veteran and I wear my cap backwards around him nearly everyday and he's never said anything

Sorry for changing the subject....just seemed like a good place to share....carry on :D
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

classical music for example... is uplifting and doesnt cloud peoples minds.

hell yeah music is a celebration. should we not be joyous that we are alive???

The rules of religion baffle me.....

If Jesus was real surely he'd want people to have a laugh on the day set aside to commemorate his death not sit round and be morose?

In this day and age he would've included Eddie, Stone, Jeff, Mike, and Matt into his band of disciples!

Huh... I've never heard of this. And I come from the Bible Belt with a very religious mom. I'm thinking that's just something your mom does, not that it's dictated by religion specifically. You think?

Yeah she has her own take on being Catholic.
Most of her rules are not even set out in the bible.

It is 9am here, great the long boring day begins.

  • Reminds me of the movie Footloose: For the characters in the film, dancing was banned by some religious tenet.

Go the storm!!!!!!!!! Now I just gotta hope the Broncos can pull thier finger out tomorrow :?

Well I spent most of the day at redcliffe at the Festival of Sails for the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone race. Beautiful day, bloody crowded but moreton bay is beautiful and all of those sails dotted along the water with moreton island as the backdrop was something special.

Came home to garlic prawns on the barbie, seafood salad and a few cc"s and dry to wash it all down....awesome! :D

Have to work tonight, you lucky people. Interestingly enough, at the local RC funded school, there are work men today (as it's holiday time) working on a new office suite for the staff. My parents are christian, as am I but both of them have been doing things today as dad works from home and mum likes to bake on her days off:) just sitting here listening to MEN booleg from last year...can't have a smoke in a tree, but I can go outside to do that. (cigarette only):)
How I choose to feel is how I am...I will not lose my faith, It's an inside job today.
