WOW that version is amazing. i think im gonna download the boot just for that song now. personally ill take any extended version of alive from i guess 2003-present. the part at the end where everyone pumps their fists screaming yea gives me major chills. old school versions of alive dont compare IMO.
What show is this from, sorry but my work firewall prevents me from checking it out on youtube. My fav is the MSG 03 version, maybe this is it, but I was there and the feeling of the crowd was magical, seeing everyone pumping their fists and singing "yeah, yeah."
My PJ shows:
London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....

I would have to strongly disagree that the "original" Alive performances dont compare to the 500th time they have played the song. Maybe the bootlegs sound better now, but I saw PJ do Alive in 1991 (one of the first 20 shows) and 1992 and EV meant it when he sang Alive in the earlier days.. Now it is just a song to him, at the time it was a way of life. The "old school versions" have his blood, sweat, and tears all over the fans and the rafters!!
I honestly think they should've stopped playing it sometime around No Code or Yield. After about '95 or so, I think the song lost its punch.
Lost it punch? Not a chance - I would travel across the world to hear them play this song - this song has picked up a renewed sense of meaning for so many over the years - from my perspective it went from a song that was included in the trilogy to a song that is about the celebration of life.
i was there, and had seen and listened to it heaps of times, and then 1 times, i was watching the dvd with a few other jammers, and all at the same time for some reason we were blown away by mike!!!
I don't think its lost its punch either... It has evolved and does have even more meaning now.. It was just sung with more raw emotion in its infant stage!
One of my favorites. I was there for that, and it was pretty much a religious experience. Honestly, everytime i listen it sends chills down my spine. Amazing solo by Mike also. After that insane Crazy Mary. Just WOW!
My vote for a close 2nd though would have to be ER 1. The crowd was SO LOUD during the "Yeahs!", louder than Philly even.
Pinkpop 1992.
So much passion and energy from the band you don't see as they've aged. Not taking away from recent versions as Vancouver 05 was f'ng amazing, but Pinkpop takes the cake............HANDS DOWN!
Ps. If you haven't seen porch from that same show, what are you waiting for?

That's where he swings on the mike cord, right? If that's the one you're referring to it definitely exists on DVD, not sure about youtube though.
