I never re-read! I make quick assumptions from mis-reading, then make accusations. Don't you know this about me yet?!
I also may have won the lottery in LA 4. It was hard to tell exactly what row I was in because of the set up at the front, but it did appear that I was in row 10. And, similar to my friend in Philly, I would have been row 11 otherwise. The seats were killer though, so if it was a lottery win, it was definitely a win!1996: Toronto 1998: Barrie 2000: Saratoga Springs 2003: Buffalo, Toronto 2005: Kitchener, London, Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto 2006: Toronto x2, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Gorge #1 2007: London, Dusseldorf, Vic, Lolla 2008: WPB, Tampa, DC, MSG x2, Hartford, Boston x2, Beacon 2009: Toronto, Chicago x2, Seattle x2, LA #3&4, San Diego, Philly x4 2010: Cleveland, Buffalo, Hartford 2011: Montreal, Toronto x2, Hamilton 2012: Missoula 2013: London, Wrigley, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Hartford, Dallas, OKC0 -
I have often wondered myself on a sub100K you're not eligible to be in the lottery rule, but we won't tell you
that aside, when lottery came out at first I was miffed (not pissed) as I'd be sitting further back, and as you all know us PJ fans really get to feeling entitled for a lot of things.
then I went to a show and saw the excitement of a fan who'd won first row, and it all made sense.
If I have to sit back a few rows to let some fans get the fucking bliss of a front row seat than I am cool with it. I had my lucky times actually 3, so if I complain I am not 5th row I have no argument aside from pure selfishness.
--first time I got front row was to Alpine Valley after the whole tour cancellation from Ed being sick, I was put on a priority waiting list for next tour. I think I have that letter somewhere with the no code symbol on top. front row dead center Ed reaches down during the show and grabs my sister hand, gives her his pick and closes her hand....unreal
to be honest those were amazing, but the difference from 5th, 3rd, 6th were not that big of a deal.(sounds crazy I know). You still make killer eye contact, get nods, get picks/sticks, so what is the big deal on 4 five more rows to let other experience that? Do I really need to feel Ed's sweat or spit on me? Do I need to see the outie on Mike that close? Do I need to count how many less hairs up top they all have? How about staring right at Boom and his orgasm face all night long...Oh yeah I need to see the very Moment Smitty or a guitar tech saves the show by moving Ed's guitar cord!
row G at MSG was still pretty fucking sweet and would E be that much better?
If we pride ourselves as one of the most generous fan bases out there we just need to get over the lottery, accept it, and be happy for the new people getting a chance to see them up close and personal. Be fortunate that we have any sort of system that rewards loyalty over the years, and appreciate we still have the best band playing for us.
We have it so good and all we do is bitch about it
see you out there row 5/7/9/11/13/27, and good luck to you all in winning the lottery. I look forward to seeing the back of your head in a non sexual way0 -
Well I did win the lottery, mentioned way to many times I know, 2nd row under Eddie Halloween night- my number 333xxx. I am accustomed to sitting pretty far back you know where I watch the show on the screen. 2nd row is awesome you can not even explain the experience but any of those rows- probably through what? 20 maybe more are great.
I am grateful for the lottery and for me it seems a very fair system. I am a 20 year fan who didn't join till a few years back. There are incredibly loyal fans who are joining now and it is just really nice that the band gave this opportunity to all their fans to experience the shows up close and personal.0 -
Understand..but lottery sux. They should just sprinkle it in at a few shows and not make it the policy across the board.www.twitter.com/robert_harbin0

Another couple came in and ordered drinks, he was wearing a PJ tee, so we began chatting about all things Pearl Jam. After a few more drinks, we all jumped on the train and headed to the show. Apparently my new PJ friend has a MUCH better 10C than me, as he was 4th row in front of Mike. My wife, being the wonderful person that she is, AND realizing my obsessive love for this band, convinced his wife to give her 4th row to me, and sit with her back in section 206. A pair of perfect strangers not more than 3 hours ago, had now given me the most amazing gift. Unbelievable show, unbelievable seats. I even got a pick from Mike. Thanks Dave!
Man, you need to teach that guy a lesson. You never wear the bands shirt that is playing to their show. Golden Rule of concerts.0 -

Yeah, but if that guy wasn't wearing his PJ shirt, maybe SCMike wouldn't have been chatting him up in the lobby, and wouldn't have ended up with 4th row seats. Yanno?nothing's changed but the surrounding bullsh1t0 -
My buddy is 280xxx. He won front row twice in 2009. Chicago 1 and Spectrum 3. I saw with him in Philly front row in between ed and stone. What a night.
I have a low number (105xxx) and I won on halloween at the spectrum. I got 9th row which is close to where I normally am seated. The guy I normally sit next to was in row 13.
it was a good weekend in PhillyMaybe so, Maybe not!0 -

I know of someone with a number slightly above 130XXX that won the lottery in Philly - but he won 10th row and figured out that his seats would have otherwise been in the 11th row
Are you saying that the lottery moved him BACKWARDS? If so, this was a concern of mine when they started this.
The 10C assured me that this would not happen when the lottery first started. If you have a seat in the fifth row, you will not be in the lottery for rows 9 & 10. At least that was their response to my question.107 total First-Summerfest, Milwaukee '95

I noticed someone on touring fans was front row in Vancouver ... 67xxx0

Also take into consideration that "friends" of the band get move up to the front row, making the chance of winning smaller...I won 1st row at Philly night 2, (I don't have a low number) and talking to the guys next to me, one of them were friends with EV and Jeff, and he mentioned that he preferred these seats than his "usual" sitting on the stage and that 10c must have noticed his name and "bumped him up". He also ended up with a set list among other things thrown out from the stage...0

I have a decent #... got me 2nd row in Birmingham, 17th at Philly 4, but usually row 5-8 depending on the city. I like the lottery.
I lobbied hard for the hometown ticket system. Something like the system now but people from the city the show is in would get the rows 1-2 or whatever regardless of 10c number."Mark it 20, Dude."0 -

Very true, Ms. Like. Although, truth be told, I was so happy to be in Philly for all 4 shows, that I was blabbing to anyone who would listen. As for the Golden Rule of Concerts, I actually concur; I like to wear my Citizen Dick shirt to PJ events!Irvine Meadows - Sep 13, 1992
