recollections

diving without checking the depth
i can only hope for the best
a song drifts over familiar rooftops,
through windows eternally gazed at, and not into
to reach a forever familiar pillow
and my consciousness creaks open,
the door may be heavy,
but that only eventually imparts momentum.

the notes bring recollections
of summer nights
spent sprinting through thoroughfares
slipping the occasional glance backwards,
catching your eye, as the lightning streaked behind you

i always knew these were the times i would never forget,
and as our intimate chorus finally forces me to open my eyes
the locations may have changed
but the souls are forever the same
"Ah, life is a gate, a way, a path to Paradise anyway, why not live for fun and joy and love or some sort of girl by a fireside, why not go to your desire and LAUGH..."
