At Close Range - Some of Sean Penn's finest work, IMO

It was one of the first movies I have ever watched with Sean Penn, and I was simply blown away at his performance. I was only around 11 when it came out, but I clearly remember it being the first movie in which I was inspired and amazed at the acting. Interesting thing is, it wasn't a blockbuster by any means and in my opinion was very underrated. If any of you are looking for a great overall acting and storyline experience- pick this one up. It is no longer in print if memory serves me correctly, but I think you can get it on netflix perhaps.

One of Sean's best movies, and one of the more underrated gems of the 80's in my opinion. BTW, AMAZING job by Christopher Walken as well

I was about 13 or so when this came out, only saw it once back then but really enjoyed it. The thing I remember most about it though was being a huge Madonna junkie back then, and her song "Live to Tell" was all over the place. I think this was when her and Penn were married.

I'm pretty sure the Madonna connection helped that movie quite a bit in its promotion. That was back when MTV actually played videos and they played this one constantly.

Agree , but then again most of his work is stellar. Just got done watching State of Grace.

First saw him in Fast Times but another movie in 83 stands out as well Bad Boys. very good work on a dramatic level. Very emotive.
