I am not sure what it is exactly. The vocals, the synths, the drum patterns. The whole.

I really want this album now. But pretty sure the live version available on wolfgangsvault.com is this song´s maximum portrayal.

And it´s not that genesis was just inducted. Wolfgangs is top shit. I highly recommend this website for those searching for new music. Fuck the reviews. Begin by listening. And hopefuly you´ll enjoy it. No matter who it is.

This is my favorite song off the lamb. Such a good album. I know what you mean too, you just can't put your finger on what it is about that song. I'll give you a hint: it's everything. That song sends me into a trance when I listen to it.

"I don't care who I hurt! I don't care who I do wrong! This is your mess I'm stuck in, I really don't belong!"

Actually, there are probably better compositions on that album (well at least on the live version I´ve heard) like In The Cage or Counting Out Time. But listening Back In NYC again, I think it´s more of the vibe that it has that makes it more special to me. Just like you said, it sends me into a trance as well. No drugs necessary.

Gabriel-era Genesis is THE BEST!!! [the poster in the background of my avatar is a vintage 'Lamb Lies Down on Broadway' promotional poster]

I never really understood why Carpet Crawlers gets as much love as it does. It's probably my least favorite song off that album. Don't get me wrong, I love in the cage and counting out time, but back in NYC just gets to me. Hairless heart does the same thing, it just sends me into another dimension. Then I hear my neighbors playing Kanye West at 110 decibels and I come back to earth. Unfortunate.
