He always told her to put on shoes before she went outside, but
she never did

He always told her to stroke the cue four times before a shot, but
she never did

He always told her not to spoil the dogs, yet
she always did

She lost two babies before they were born
He told her not to worry, everything will work out
and it did

Doc told him two years left
He told her not to worry, everything will work out
She said good, she couldn't do everything by herself

Turns out they were both lying
but she had to concede all the same.

Two cues are now retired
But barefoot dancing outside
with three spoiled dogs
Still reminds her that everything will work out

It is what it is
And that's all that it is
fuck 'em if they can't take a joke

"what a long, strange trip it's been"

  • Why is everyone making me cry today?
This is so very sad, yet so deeply touching.
Its seems as though I can feel the pain and the numbness...

Girl, i cannot write happy stuff. If i do it sounds all hallmarky and shit. And I am a happy person now. All of the dark days were years ago.
