4 seasons is an excellent choice
but the peninsula is great for its spa
nothing like a good soak, steam and massage to cure that hangover.

The London NYC is a nice place, all rooms are suites. However I don't think it has a spa.
It was formerly the Rhigha Royal.

Depends what your criteria is. I personally wouldn't stay near MSG unless you really need to be within stumbling distance. I checked these hotels out for my parents when they visited, they are all mostly boutique hotels:

    Giraffe Hotel
On Park Ave and 26th Street, Gramercy area. Close to the 4/5/6 subway train (stop on 28th & Park, another on 23rd and Park) but to get to MSG I would just walk, it would be like 15 mins. Or take a cab. There are also a bunch of somewhat trendy restaurants with decent food and good bar scene. Dos Caminos, Sushi Samba, Wildwood BBQ. There might even be one in the basement of the hotel, but it might have closed recently

    Park South Hotel
On 28th Street between Park & Lexington Avenue. Right by "Curry Hill" where all the good Indian restaurants are. Less trendy then Giraffe but still in great location. Very courteous staff. My parents ended up staying here and they loved it.

    Gramercy Park Hotel
Uber trendy Ian Schrager hotel. Danny Meyer's just opened a restaurant there, and there's also an "exclusive" rooftop bar/restaurant, I think. You can have breakfast on the roof!

    Carlton Hotel

    Roger Williams Hotel

Both the Carlton and Roger Williams are not right in the heart of the hustle and bustle, just a few steps away.

If you're going to stay at a W, I'd recommend the one in Union Sq. It's the most convenient; you can take the N/R/W train to 34th street and walk a few blocks to MSG

Hope you find this helpful let me know if you have more questions.
