Hi everyone,

can someone please explain to me how a PJ fan can get a backstage pass to PJ show? How many per show are given? Any stories, any experiences?

Thanks.

PJ usually doesn't give passes to fans. They might give a handful of passes to their friends, vip's like industry professionals, and the local stagehands, etc. In other words, unless you are closely tied to the band or know someone who is, you won't be back there.

There's not much to do backstage anyway, so I'd recommend just seeing the show. B>ands like Rolling Stones make a big deal about having a cool backstage ambience, with sometimes 100+ guests. PJ is typically the opposite. It's not likeW aynes World where there's a chain linked fence with dozens of fans hanging out and meeting the band.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

there are different types of backstage passes
from what I understand PJ is very tight with the all-access passes

however, if you know someone with corporate connections, you might be able to get a VIP pass, which allows you be in the backstage area and the catering area, but not in the bands private rooms

I was backstage for randalls2 in 96 as they gave out a lot more VIP passes back then-plus it was a big outdoor show
it was kinda nice, big spread cold drinks, and a guy working a grill

but the band had its own area that was tented off and you could not really see them at all-except when they went on and came off the stage.

You pretty much have to be famous or know someone...

I was "backstage" for the Continental Airlines Arena 2 New Jersey 06 show.
It's not anything that you would expect, and it wasn't even backstage. Met Jimmy Dowd (hockey player for the Devils at the time). Nothing special.

I think you are mistaking backstage pass/vip pass with meet and greet situation. whereas first two are just passes allowing you to be backstage and occasionally (vip) be able to have couple of free drinks they very rarely bring you anywhere near the band (depending on the venue layout of course). the latter (meet'n'greet) are events organized by the managements of groups/local record labels dept. [mainly of the majors']/for contest winners and so on. these passes allow you to go backstage and actually meet the band, talk to them, have a cig or a drink. many bands do that. i participated in such event with couple of band like fe. Foo Fighters, etc. and it was really cool. on the other hand i had a vip backstage pass for iron maiden show in Poland on the day of B. Dickinson's 50th b-day and did i see him anywhere near? not a chance:)
so, you don't have to be famous, but definitely got to be lucky. and first off: the band has to want to do it.
does pearl jam do this kinda stuff? questions rise..
