sober house starring Mike Starr

I have been trying to keep up w/this because of Mike. If anyone else will admit to watching it, do you think it is weird that Mike still thinks of himself as the base player for AIC? They were allowed to leave the house to go out in Hollywood. Now was it creative editing or did Mike just sound sad repeatedly introducing himself as "the bass player for the band Alice In Chains"? Seriously, some people were like "how nice for you" and laughing. If they are trying to make him look pathetic via creative editing that is just mean as hell. It is not the first embellishment I have heard from him regarding the band, but it was the most emphasized. If they are aware of this "quirk" and not trying to encourage him to accept that this was give-or-take 20 years ago, unless I have missed it, that too is so fucking wrong.
fuck 'em if they can't take a joke

It's a "celebrity" show. Of course they're going to keep reminding you of why their "famous".

Poor Mike....I would not bet on him ever coming clean.....creative editing or not, he still tried to pick up chicks using that line....I wonder if any of them had ever heard of Alice in Chains?

One of the self-hyped introductions was to three chicks, they are the ones who laughed and said "how nice for you". sad

this is why reality television is bogus. you get some person who was of some limited import last decade, or the decade before and you have them dining out on that... who the fuck cares? i love alice but even i dont care. i dont want to see mike starr promote himself. its great that hes sober but so are many many people who werent in a rock band back in the 90s.

  • Yes but its' not as weird as when he was asked who he was listening too, and he goes "Me, I listen to my albums". It sounded like he would do this non stop. Yikes..

while i too think the show is exploitative and ridiculous, this isnt exactly how it played out. in the show, mike is always seen with headphones on. one of the counselors asked him what he was listening to, and he said, "my albums, my band, my best friend who was in the band died". So I dont think he is doing it as a sort of narcissistic action, as in "oh my band was so great, or I was so great", but rather and I think he said this, that listening to alice was the only thing that keeps him sane.

It might even be a way for him to remember some better times, times that he shared with his friends before all their lives got extremely damaged with Layne's death... :?

When he was at the club saying "Hi, I'm the bassist for Alice in Chains" I thought that was so sad. I don't feel like it was editing just from seeing him on Celebrity Rehab and now on Sober House.

I totally didn't mean it in a narcissistic way at all. I just look at it as some mental issues from his long term drug use.

I watched a few episodes last night. I realize that the people are addicts, but damn, some of them are very unlikeable. Tom Sizemore, Heidi Fleiss and Dennis Rodman are way too self-absorbed!

The little pixie-like porno girl seems nice, as does Shifty.
