All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

Franti plays around here when he is out, which is just about always. He has a soft spot for Woodstock N.Y. Very good live show.

Yeah....and people diss on mayer a bunch -- much of which is justified -- but he has done some really good stuff on his last couple of albums and can play the hell out of a guitar

Where do I start. Well I wondered briefly about this before this tour started up last fall and there was quite a bit of backlash from his older fans like myself on the board. I moderate on the board and peeps were bitching on the prices of tickets that they would have to pay to see the band on this tour. We are used to paying 20-$30 in small clubs that seats up to 2000 and didn't want to pay that much in this economy. Plus they felt with this large arena tour they wouldn't be able to meet and greet Michael after the show.

I told them look, Ive seen MFSH over 50+ times now from Europe to up and down the east coast and them touring 9-10 months a year. I've gone on a couple 6 city tours with them and it's a hell of a hard way to make a living many times without being able to shower. Most fans have no clue the crap they have to go through to make ends meet. It's about time they took a step towards securing themselves financially as most of the band is reaching middle age. This tour is ONLY for 3 months and they'll be back to touring clubs, maybe slightly larger ones as and with reduced prices of tickets. The fans were saying he was selling out and all that well that's just BS they want bigger and better things and if touring with John Mayer will get them there through exposure to more fans then so be it. an A new album is going to be released later this summer this tour will build some fan momentum towards it's release.

I spoke to Michael backstage for some time about this decision to tour with JM and he was basically saying....it's a brief opportunity to be exposed to some new fans around the country. He was right playing each night in front of15-20,000 fans playing for 60 minutes IS great exposure. JM is a great guitar player, I was introduced to him and I liked what I saw of him in concert even though it's not quite my musical attraction. Michael has been a great opening act for JM, he get's their fans and his fans involved, excited and very few opening acts have the ability to get fans in their seats to even hear their music. There's more but I could be here all night writing.

Here's my review of his show here in DC, that's me on the right with the band and Michael in the back.
What a great show here in DC. Michael rocked the house of 15,000+ people. He was able to squeeze in 11 songs, worked the crowd like he has never done before. He touched many that have never seen a musician/performer come out into the front rows to the left side to the right side audience far up the first deck. I had many J Mayer fans come up to me asking who is that guy again because they were loving what they were seeing and hearing.

The exposure from this tour is going to produce bigger and better things for the band. They certainly said as much backstage as we caught up on things from the past and into the future. Also all the HUB, BUB with touring with JM. BTW I knew nothing about the guy before this tour but I know a couple things the man can play a guitar and the man has some serious drawing power. His fans knew the songs and words like how we do at Spearhead shows. I wasn't going to go back out and watch Mayer but Dave, Carl, Michael all them said watch him play. Well I did and I watched till he was through cause he CAN play.

It was nice to speak to everybody including Versace and everybody else. They will be back here again in May at Wolf Trap on their own ready to rock the DC Metro area again.

awesome clip. i'm on board now :D

i just don't understand fans when they say he sold out cause he signed up for the mayer tour. it's almost as though those said fans don't want to see him/the band reach mass approval. i've been exposed to all sorts of great opening bands and have become a fan because of that opening slot.

bring on band of horses i say!

EXACTLY! What has happened is that over the years they've become spoiled brats to say the least. They've become used to the spoils of the band and felt this major tour meant they were never going to get up close and personal with the band and that may not be the case with ANY other bands they love. At one time 2002-04 the band and Michael would post on the website answering questions or just commenting on various subjects. They did so till things got out of hand with some of our crazier fans. Michael and the band has bills just like everybody else and for a short period of time on this tour, gaining some new fans is critical in these tough times to tour.

Fans are being tight with their money and the band knows it and the same could be said for major acts like PJ or the music industry in general. Michael said, this has been one of the easiest gigs being that they only play for 60 minutes so it's high energy all the way through. When touring on their own they usually play a minimum of 2 hours and my first concert (03') with them was 3 hours in Baltimore. so you get your money's worth and after the show you can come down to the front and meet, greet and take pictures with him.

    It's a unique experience.

    Peace
