not sure your concert history, but it could very well be the best show you've ever seen. so feel free to have high expectations. they typically play similar length shows as pj. between 2 and 2 1/2 hours - 3 hours on a good night. the evening with wilco shows they are doing now might be longer because there is no opener. just wait til you hear bull black nova which they'll probably play within the first 5 songs. your mind will be blown. your mind will be blown the whole show. enjoy.

I'm just gettin into them. Woulda loved to catch a show, but nothin close to IL for the time being, along with needing to shut down the ticket buyin engine for awhile.

Any chance these guys'll tour later this year?

my resume of show is not bad. but just like you said everyone says they are amazing. been a fan since a ghost is born. so this has been a long time coming . finally get to see one of the most original rock and roll acts there is today.

Looks like these "Evening With Wilco" shows are turning out to be quite good - the first show on the tour was 31 songs. Here's the setlist from their second and most recent show on the tour (33 songs) as posted on the Via Chicago message board:

    Wilco (the song)
I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
    Bull Black Nova
    You Are My Face
    One Wing
    A Shot In The Arm
    Side With the Seeds
    Deeper Down
    Nothingsevergonnastandinmyway(again)
    Sonny Feeling
    Handshake Drugs
    Impossible Germany
    California Stars
    Poor Places>
    Spiders*
    Forget the Flowers*
    Laminated Cat*
    Bob Dylan's Beard*
    Someday Soon*
    War On War*
    Passenger Side*
    Airline To Heaven
    Via Chicago
    Heavy Metal Drummer
    Can't Stand It
    Magazine Called Sunset
    Jesus Etc.
    You Never Know
    Hate It Here
    Walken
I'm the Man Who Loves You
    Hummingbird

E: Thank You Friends (Big Star cover)

    *Acoustic

Seems like a helluva set - I'm going to the Pittsburgh show myself and I'm quite pumped. It'll be my 7th time seeing them and all have been great, but only once have I enjoyed the opener (Conor Oberst). Seeing just Wilco with these extended sets should be great!

this is a pretty hardworking touring band we are talking about. i mean, they aren't the grateful dead, but they usually tour every year. the band is from chicago, so i would say the chances of them coming to IL in the near future are pretty damn good. tweedy just did a couple shows at the vic a week or so ago.

first two shows look terrific and there is an acoustic set in the middle-you will not be disappointed.

just wait until you see nels cline play guitar live
    the man is an animal

    PJ and Wilco
the two best live acts out there right now (honorable mention to radiohead and MMJ)

agreed. except i would say wilco and mmj are the two best live acts out there. pj would get the honorable mention, and as much as i love radiohead, after seeing them live on the in rainbows tour, i can't put them on the level of the other three bands mentioned. got tickets to see broken social scene in september, we'll see if they could join the ranks of these bands. also hoping i get a chance to see my first arcade fire show this year if they ever schedule a tour.

jr - make sure you come and tell us how the show went for you. i'm going to see them next week in scranton and i can't wait. these 'evening with' shows are looking like marathons. the set-list you got tonight was great. i hope i get poor places in scranton and philly.

I saw a setlist in this thread and stopped reading ( i decided i like being surprised by what they play even though they do switch it up). I'm going to the show tonight in Atlanta and I can't fucking wait.

I've seen wilco 4 times and Jeff tweedy solo once and it was awesome everytime. The last time i saw them i was in huge rain storm. It came down in buckets the entire show, but the entire crowd stuck with it and it was still a good time.

they deliver like the mailman rain sleet or snow.

I saw the in rainbows tour and thought it was fantastic
Ive seen BSS and AF, and they cant touch PJ, co, RH or MMJ.

But that is probably because I dont like their music as much as the other bands. I find AF to be annoying.
    Different strokes...........
The other band I love to see live is spoon. They are fantastic live.

Anyway, OP let us know if you enjoyed the show! I am in for two NJ and the CT shows. Cant wait!

bss is one of my favorite bands, so i'll probably enjoy it more than you did. i'm also a huge fan of arcade fires funeral, so to hear those songs live would be special to me.
i actually thought the radiohead show was fantastic as well, but for live shows, it didn't compare to mmj, wilco or pj. they have a really cool light show and i love their music, but really, if you strip everything away, they pretty much just play their songs as is...and i didn't feel the same kind of passion from them that i get with the other bands mentioned. i still love radiohead though.

looking foward to seeing how jr enjoyed is first show as well. the set list looked great, but according to the some of the folks at viachicago, it was a strange crowd and strange performance from the band. i hear the sound was lacking a bit. i'm sure it was amazing anyway. they always are.

What'd you think of the Fox show?

    Loved it.

    34 songs 2:45 minutes
The acoustic set was very nice. Spiders and Casino Queen were my favorites from that. Then the second half from Via Chicago on was electric and i mean that as in on fire. They just kept belting out rockin good songs. Jesus Etc is still one of my favorite songs so getting to sing it (crowd sang most of the song) and hear all of the fox crooning it was very cool.

I was hoping for one more song like kingpin or monday to close it out but the Alex Chilton cover was fitting. Probably my favorite wilco show i've attended.

enjoying this thread...only got into wilco a year or so ago and was lucky enough to check out a show not too far into it. One of the few bands who are actually FAR better live than in the studio (imo at least). and that guitar player kicks so much ass. such a great live band. Anyone know more about tweedy's other band/side project/older group (im not sure which one) think its called "loose fur"??? i hear it every once in a while on pandora and dig it just as much. never really looked that far into though.

Loose Fur has some good songs. He also has contributed songs to Golden Smog which were cool. Then of course their is the bands collaboration with billy bragg to put music to the old woody guthrie lyrics for the two albums Mermaid Ave Vol 1 and vol 2........

but his OLD band Uncle Tupelo with Jay Farrar (went on to form when tweedy formed wilco) was fucking awesome!
