Getting logged out

Is it just me, or do others have the problem where the forum just logs you out after an obscenely short amount of time? There's no warning, there's no heads up, there's no indication whatsoever. You just click on a link and suddenly you're asked to log in.

This is typically just an annoyance when I'm viewing a forum and suddenly all of the topics turn "read". Then I have to log in again by clicking the "Login" link and going back through the forum index. I don't even have to actually log in... just click a link. What's the point of logging me out, then?

It became more than annoying this morning as I was typing a moderately long (but by no means lengthy) post and when I submitted it, it actually told me to log in! And poof, my post was gone!

What gives?

I don't even have the lost internet connection problem. If I did, I could understand being logged out for that, possibly.

But just normal navigation through the site and suddenly you're not logged in anymore? And the post you typed is vamous? That's just not right. The BBS needs to have its cookie handling or something tweaked.

hmmm strange.

i find that the best way to keep me logged in, is not to login normally, but to try and reply to a thread, and login there, and select stay logged in

I post this about once a week, but I see that it is needed again:

Use Mozilla Firefox with the free add-on "Lazarus Form Recovery." You can restore your lost post in a few seconds. All of your hard work comes right back!

In fact, you can find anything that you have ever typed with a simple keyword search.

If you prefer a different browser, you can easily use another one for the rest of your web activities, and switch to Firefox when it's time to PJ.

I'll try to get my corporate overlords to install that on my work machine. While I'm waiting for them to deny my request, however, hopefully the 10c tech squad can fix this entirely annoying issue on their end.

That only happens to me if I take too long to write a post. It sux 'cuz if I took that long to write something, I don't want to have to do it again.
